Because it's what makes Muga unique. Again, if Rum's texts reflected that specificity ("Bourbon, it's been _ hours and _ minutes..."), it would be one of those details that would swing me towards Muga = Rum.
Spoiler:
that type of phrasing (stating two time units) hasn't really been commonly used, so it would stick out as a sore thumb to any reader that's following the plot. If Gosho is going for a "hidden suspect" route, then that would be a very unlikely move for him to make. It would be obvious that he is copying Rum's dialogue and in turn framing Muga, which defeats the "hidden suspect" purpose.

ultimately, there's only so much you can do to portray impatience, if the character in question is intended to not only stay unknown, but behind a phone. I just don't see the point in questioning Bourbon's clear and evidence-consistent profiling of Rum's personality.
Spoiler:
For me, Muga's specificity in his impatience is what ultimately strikes me. That's why I'm making a point about the difference between that and Rum's vague texts. It's more about that than questioning whether or not Rei/Bourbon has had more interaction with Rum than just those two texts or not.

As a specific detail (had Rum been that specific in either or both of the texts to Bourbon), it would be quite the detail, upon Muga being that specific in his impatience in 1,040. But that's for those who retain the specific details, panel by panel—for those who regularly theorize, for those who take in a file's first untranslated spoiler pics within an hour of them dropping. For those who don't, who believe that Muga is just Momiji's butler, they're not going to read Muga's two lines of dialogue there and immediately go, "oh, dang, he's Rum!" For you and me, Muga turning out to be Rum is not going to be a shock—we're fully prepared for that twist, by this point. But for those who aren't DCTP/DCW/DC Discord regulars, this reveal would be quite the shock. They'd be shocked when comparing Muga's lines in 1,040 to Rum's texts in 1,008/942 and 1,010/953. With them, Gosho's hidden suspect has already been successfully hidden—and I don't think Rum's texts lining up with Muga's 1,040 lines would change that.

Yeah, which goes along with the theory that "CARASUMA" is Rum's surname, and that Kohji was actually revealing Rum's identity with his dying message (like how Hiyama revealed his killer's identity "SENBA", File 950).
Yeah, that would line up—if Gosho plays it that straight, in terms how tight the correlation is between Senba's murder and Kōji's.

CARASUMA (mirror) + UMA (Rumi's shogi piece) + G (Knight chess piece) = MUGA CARASUMA... this one's stuck with me—I haven't heard an alternative claim that has really matched it for me. Although this assumes, again, that Gosho plays it straight, and doesn't have any manipulation of the message (i.e., zerozaki's assertion about how the mirror was cut).

it's mainly also considering the fact that we don't seem near Rum reveal yet that I think such a direct hint would be a bit too on the nose too early. If Gosho ever made a hinting move to that extent, it would normally be close to the climax/reveal.

Even if the reader did not suspect the butler, that would still just be an overly attention-catching line that would at least entertain the idea, since most would still remember the main antagonist's (of this arc) few written lines that they have had.

Me neither (if we are specifically talking about DCTP/DCW/DC Discord). It has almost become a meme to shit on that theory, and especially after SDB BLACK+, the room for hidden angles are gone for most.

Spoiler:
In terms of DC's slow pace—in terms of the cases/files per year we've had in 2018 and 2019—we are indeed a ways off. But even 100 files before the Vermouth arc had its big reveal, we already had all the clues to reveal that Vermouth wasn't Jodie, and that she actually was the person passing themselves off as Dr. Araide—in other words, even when the big reveal was years off, we could still solve the mystery. So Gosho dropping such a clue well before the big reveal lines up for me.

Yes, just like how they'd also entertain the notion that the other suspects could be Rum.

This derided theory is actually my #2 pick, right now—I find Muga to be a more likely pick for Rum than Rumi and Kanenori.

Spoiler:
The match fixing is possibly being done by Tesuji through online simulations. The culprit looks to be the guy , cause he entered with the party and his coffee got cold, which concludes that he didn't want to enter alone and his coffee was bought much earlier. Just because someone is not answering the phone it doesn't mean that one needs to wait and assume that the one inside is sleeping. Cause the one inside was expecting a bunch of people to visit so falling asleep is not rational also Chikara's daughter says that he didn't fall asleep and was neither sleepy. For the two girls it sounds impossible as if they did do it, then the culprit had to be faking about going out with the innocent one and then hurry back, kill the guy, then create the board, then hurry back to the shop, buy the stuff and again get back. This in 10 minutes would be tough and it would be very likely to be spotted by the other guy who was waiting for them for some time at the entrance.

Here's a text summary of 1,044, translation courtesy of Spimer:
Spoiler:
Satō argues that the culprit of these murders must be the same because the info about the shogi board was only published a couple hours before Genda's murder, so, to her, it's simply too early for a copycat to have sprung into action.

The relationships between suspects and victims:
Nishikido (1st victim of the shogi murders) was friends with Genda (2nd victim), but none of the three suspects (Hishinuma, Shoko or Mina) had met Nishikido.

Genda was the one who did these training sessions, originally. There originally were 4 members of the practice group—Shūkichi had heard rumors of the group as being comprised of remarkably powerful players. The members were Nishikido, Genda, Yūhei Kishimoto (the one mentioned in the previous chapter that wouldn't be joining the group), who had recently became depressed, and Sanji Uriyū (brother of Shoko), who'd recently become a pro player.
Kishimoto's depression was likely related to Uriyū's unexplained, sudden suicide—Uriyū had been very high spirits and was having a winning streak, and they'd even anticipated and celebrated a rise in rank. Mina had been hanging out with him, at the time. Uriyū was also possibly part of the fixed game circle, since he apparently had been summoned by the shogi federation at some point shortly before his suicide.
Genda, finding himself suddenly alone after what happened to Nishikido, Uriyū and Kishimoto, asked Hishinuma to join him, and he invited Shoko and Mina.

When Conan points out that there might be more murders and Yumi scolds him, he responds, "But if it were Shinichi-niichan, I'm sure he'd say the same, wouldn't he?"

When Hishinuma tries to tell the police where Kishimoto's house is at, since he doesn't remember the exact address, they see smoke rising from it. Satō and Takagi rush there while ordering the suspects to go back to their respective homes and wait there, and not to go out on their own because they might be in the killer's list, too.
Yuminaga reports that they managed to prevent the house from burning down completely, but Kishimoto got burnt to a crisp. While at first glance, it looked like he was dead before the fire began because of a lack of vital reactions, his rectal temperature hadn't descended too much—it was possible he might've been alive until shortly before the fire began. Takagi asks if Kishimoto could have been killed after Genda, and Yuminaga replies that Megure told him about the shogi board found there—a board lacking 3 legs, this time. Yuminaga notices Conan, and Takagi admits he slipped into the patrol car without them noticing.

At night, Shūkichi rings at someone's door and apologizes for his sudden visit, while commenting, "so this is where you moved to", implying this person lived somewhere else before but moved to this place recently. He says he's come to suggest that they turn themselves in, since he's sure they're Genda's killer.
No break next week!

Spoiler:
After reading 1,044's text summary, I agree. Shoko being the killer in order to avenge her brother is a bit too obvious—though it would certainly make sense—and in other scenarios like this, Gosho has had the seemingly unrelated (or seemingly not as related) party doing the avenging. I'd be surprised if Mina actually turned out to be the killer—right now, I can't imagine Shūkichi and Chikara meeting down the line and there being tension over Shūkichi getting Chikara's daughter put in jail. I'd be down for such a subversion of the usual—I'd be down for a culprit influencing future cases, like the Moonlight Sonata culprit did (62–67/11)—but I think Hishinuma is the likely candidate, right now.

This nose comparison does look pretty good.

This image rather proves that despite the body's inside was intact physical recognition was not possible.
Now add these with the Fan's changed hairstyle. This sort of indicates that the Fan in reality is the depression guy. He possibly hired somebody to sit in his apartment and then killed that fellow so that he could fake his own death. Genda probably had suspected that Either Mina or Shoko was the killer of Nishikido, hence he invited them so that he could spy on them. Katsumata being a sentinel of the fraternity smelled bullcrap and asked Shukichi to watch over his daughter.

Apologies for the double post.

1,045 text spoilers are now out, translation courtesy of 2leaves:
Spoiler:
"There is a lot to see in this file"
Yusaku, Yukiko and Akai show up—the three of them are together at the Kudō mansion. Akai is himself—not Subaru—and not wearing the knit cap, either. Akai only has his hat off when he is in the house—when he goes out to meet Conan, he puts his hat and sunglasses on.
The culprit kidnapped Shūkichi—Akai meets up with Conan and they go rescue Shūkichi together. It seems that Shūkichi manages to call his brother from behind his back when he is tied to a table.
UPDATE:
And here are some more 1,045 text spoilers, translation courtesy of Spimer:
Spoiler:
At the start of the file, Conan is trying to solve a mystery by Yusaku but Genta playing gacha is hampering him
Yumi calls Conan, telling him that Shūkichi didn't come back yesterday.
Conan calls Shūichi, who happens to be in the Kudo house, without his disguise; the Kudos are also there
They're short of time so Shūichi doesn't disguise (he does put on sunglasses and other stuff) and Conan goes to help Shūkichi
Shūichi calls Shūkichi through an exclusive phone; Shūkichi had secretly put the phone in call mode; he had suggested to the culprit that they play a blind game of shogi.
Magazine break next week—we can expect 1,046 spoilers late next week at the earliest.

Text summary of 1045
Courtesy, Manaphy
Spoiler:
For those wondering, Gosho's comment about number #3 concerns "Yaiba figurins", Genta is upset because two days ago at a capsule machine he got a Yaiba capsule labeled #1, then the next day another capsule labeled #2, so he thought there would be a #3 today but he got a #1 again, and Conan hears that and thinks this is a big hint about the case. Probably linked to the shogi board missing legs, like the order of the murders is not the one we think it is, even Mitsu says "things don't always proceed according to order in this world"

Also Conan doesn't only recap in the 5 first pages, but he also thinks about possible tricks by the suspects, like :
- He thinks about Shoko possibly buying a cooler box to keep the ice cream, but says the 3 suspects were lightly dressed/equipped and because she didn't have the key she couldn't have come earlier and put a cooler box inside the room
- The fact Mina couldn't get the curry pan bugs him, but he says she couldn't warm the bread because there was no electricity
- He mentions Kousuke using lukewarm water to do instant coffee but because there was no power once again, he couldn't have warmed any water

Shukichi is tied but smartphone in his backpocket, doesn't think he can reach it with his hands. He got tazed when entering the culprit's room
The culprit is pissed off and apparently waiting for a certain announcement from the police, but Shukichi speaks to himself, saying that he destroyed his winning move
Yusaku says he's too free so he wants to hear about the case.
so Yusaku confirms that the countdown of shogi board legs is a "fake", and that one of the kitchen items (toaster, mixer, and two icecube plates) was used to create the alibi
and Conan remembers Genta hitting the capsule machine then understands the trick.

Akai & Conan go save Kichi, Akai use exclusive phone for that because "like a certain highschool detective, i'm dead in the eyes of society right now"

Hello, i have a theory about this chapter
Spoiler:
I think Shouku Uryuu is the culprit, the shogi board´s missing leg is probably the weapon she used to kill Nishikido, and i think she used it to break some ices into pieces to make icecream in less than 10 minutes.
Kishimoto probably killed himself, so he was already dead, he probably confessed her what had happened with her brother, i am thinking that maybe he was the one who started the fire, to create an alibi for her. First of all, she confronted Nishikido and kill him, but then she started to remove the shogi board´s legs to deceive the police. the she told Kishimoto to remove three legs from a shogi board and to start a fire in his own house because he was one of the three who killed Kinji. Then she killed Genda, strangled him and then she smashed some ices to make icecream, and used Genda ingredients of finger food to make that icecream

Spoiler:
So three things caught my attention in this file,
a) Conan thinks that the culprit has moved out from his/her original place. Inspite of his ignorance of the three suspects' addresses he had deduced it.
b) The Gacha machine is a direct hint to the appliance, which is only the mixer. Cause Gacha machines has these mixer like mechanism.
c) Shukichi did something to thwart the culprit's "winning move", which could mean two things, "These three cases are serial killings" and "The burnt body was depression guy's." Most likely Shukichi did something,(Called the Police from the phone in the apartment to claim that he himself is the serial killer.)
d) The mixer can be used to get boiled water. The Experiment
e) So the killer would be the Meijin's fan.
f) The point a) would ensure that Meijin's fan in reality is the depression guy, as he was already living someone else's life so he had to relocate for his cover.

Well... not exactly related to this thread but in file 1045 we also get a glimpse of poster for the next Conan movie M24, which showed the reunion of the Akai family~ so wonder if papa Akai would also appear in the movie? ;D
But.... just for fun really liked the idea of this fan created movie trailer with a crazy title for M24: ;)

Now for something a bit more related to the chapter, what do you think about the part in 1045 where it was mentioned someone pouring ice-cream over steamed rice? Would that be any hint? ::)
