Theory on the shrinking effect of APTX4869

I don't have a lot of facts to back up the theory, but I think the shrinking effect is tied to Conan's blood type. Conan has a blood type of AB-, which is pretty rare, just like the shrinking effect of APTX4869. And yes, that is all that this theory is based on and yes, I am aware it's nothing but one big assumption without solid evidence, but it is a possibility.
EDIT: I thought it through, and realized that this theory IS backed up by a fact: Pretty much all members of the BO have no idea such a side-effect even exists. This means that between APTX4869 being forced down Shinichi's throat and APTX4869 being taken by Shiho, nobody else shrank after being given the poison (assuming that the poison has been given to other people)
EDIT 2: My bad, I thought it specified the blood type Conan had, but it did not. All that was said was that it's a rare blood type.
What do you think?

Where was it said that Shinichi's blood is AB-?

Oh, hold on. I re-checked the manga, but all it said that the blood type is rare. My bad.

I heard once it was B- not AB- , yet I am not sure of it since every website says something different
Gosho Aoyama blood type is B as I know from Volume 49 in Case closed :

We are only sure that shinichi and Ran share the same blood type which allowed Ran out of everyone to donate her blood to Conan

It's not necessarily the same BECAUSE they did a transfusion. You don't have to be the same blood type to donate to someone else. However afterword it seems that Kogoro says that they do have matching blood types, which is why that gets brought up alot. As for "rare" blood in Asian populations... there seems to be quite a few of them, so we really can't say for sure what it is unless Ran's blood type is revealed at some point.

I know that you don't have to have same blood type to donate blood,
and as you said (what kogoro said later ), yet Ran also stated that she had the same blood type, thinking he was shinichi
I liked Biology in high school so I was interested in how you get your blood type, me and my siblings are A's & B's ( + and - )
however my parents are O and AB , therefore we can only be A or B , but its fine weather we are + or - , I only have to siblings that are (A- and b- )
I heard that B- is really rare, but as I read before AB- is very unlikely

I remember on one of the podcast episodes they believed the type to be O-
Shame I came a bit late :V

Well, the problem is, you don't really have proofs to back this theory up, not saying that it's wrong, just that there isn't any hint or proof of it in the manga, I don't think we know Haibara's blood type, and same to the unknown child, so you can't base it off that, besides, the Aptx4869 shrinking effect is NOT a side-effect, Pisco said the project Haibara was working on is going in the right direction, that means something related to shrinking is the main goal of the drug, thus, it shouldn't have anything to do with blood type. As for why Shinchi and Haibara shrank while others died, I honestly don't really know.

Yeah, as soon as I realized that Conan's exact blood type wasn't even mentioned, I began to have doubts about the theory.

Two things are for certain tho, the BO does not know anything about the shrinking. Pisco was close to Haibara's parents thus, he recognized her from when she was young. If I remember correctly the aim of the org, according to Gin(ep 1) was to kill someone without leaving traces of being poisoned. Perhaps it's also possible that some of the members of the BO(assassins) are being kept in the dark about the true purpose of the drug? Second, if the others who consumed the drug really did die and only few survived but shrunk, there's something definitely similar between Haibara and Conan. Be it in blood or something else.
These are JUST WHAT IFs WITHOUT really some concrete facts from the series itself so this should be taken with a grain of salt hehe ^^;; pls be gentle on me lmao: what if the thing that Haibara and Conan have in common wasn't the blood type itself but rather what they don't have? Like being Rh-negative? If that were so then they don't have the D antigen. D antigen is said to stimulate the greatest immune response. Perhaps the reason why they shrunk compared to the others who died was because of the absence of the D-antigen that their body eventually adjusted or easily accepted instead of resisting(compared to the other Rh positive types) the nature of the drug?(it created a different reaction) and those who died have rh positive blood that battled the drug but eventually the drug overpowered killing other cells as well? We really don't know much about the drug itself just that it is in the experimental stages and Gin used it to test it out.

I don't want to be involved in this discussion but I think you mean that most members don't know about it, because it wouldn't make sense for the members close the the boss and the boss himself not to know about the drug's true purpose, as for Pisco, he knew what the drug does from the beginning, he hinted that the drug development was going in the right direction after seeing Haibara shrink, anyway regarding what Gin said, I assume that members who have nothing to do with drug development are told that the drug is a poison that doesn't leave a trace, but there is no way that it was meant to be just a poison, there are way too many statements that go against it.

I'm not sure if that's the case. You have to remember that the final creator of the drug, Ai herself, took the drug in order to kill herself.

That is because the drug has a high chance of killing the victim, after all it wasn't complete yet, so it can also be used as a way to suicide, if Haibara thought it was meant to be a poison, it contradicts what she later said in episode 312, that the drug she was developing is something most people wouldn't find the use of.

Like killing? Who knows what she meant with that.

Many people would care if they knew about a poison that leaves no trace, what Haibara meant was that it is something that most people wouldn't care about it because it has nothing to do with them, I personally think the drug's purpose is something only the boss will get the benefit of.
