Aren't the two people in the car yui uehara and kansuke yamato the inspector of files 613-618???
I really think they are the looks so similar and you cant really see their faces as if gosho want to hide them...

It doesn't seem that he's dragging the story. File 680 is still in the main plot area like the last three. Seems like this year, Gosho has been going into the main story more than he has in the past. Like what akai-kun said in one of the posts that he could be leading up to The Raven Chaser, which the movie could be a major story in the plot. I'm not sure if that's the case, but with the new year starting with the main story and the movie on the B.O. Could this be a coincidence? Who knows until we find out when the movie is released and as the manga folds out.

well, because of the talkings about inspector yamato coming back in M13 and the think jason has pointed at that this year the manga is most based on the original plot, so...

I wouldn't bet on that. 
But yeah, I know that this won't be happening but I only wanted to say that this idea would be great - for me...

I think that it won't end with The Raven Chaser either. But, I have a feeling something big is going to happen this year just by what's going on and with a B.O. movie (No, I wasn't thinking about the endgame).

Aoyama even lets us get a peek at Yamato's scar in one of the panels. Hard to spot with the photo cap quality and deliberately obfuscating jaggedness to the shadow in that one panel, but it's there. Maybe all that "goro" stuff has to do with Kogoro's name? (Heh, could just be Aoyama got tired of coming up with new character models when people can't even tell Kir from Shuuichi, so he's just reusing them now. He flagrantly reused character models in the previous story, and didn't even note it in dialogue like when he intentionally has someone look like Shin'ichi.)

I don't know why folk are already whining about "filler"... Haibara is rarely at Kogoro's. I doubt it won't at least lead to a unique story, even if nothing new Org. related is developed (and involving Haibara in such a way kinda telegraphs Org. developments, even if the start is just a typical Aoyama fake out).

Dude, plot stories account for... what, only 20% of cases. So if you're upset about a normal Conan case, I think you should wait for Conan to end and just filter out the "worthy cases" to watch. That aside, this case doesn't really seem like an average case. With Haibara being the lead thus far and Conan barely present, it seems to be at least somewhat unique case.

I'd bet on it, considering the movie comes out mid April and the anime will continue on past April.  They wouldn't release the end of the series before they were done the buildup.  So, yeah... 100% guaranteed.

Well I a Funny person and even in the Ao's they maybe some foreshadowing going on. A lot of anime seem to stand on it own but are part a what I would call a Story Arc. If you only watch the episodes that are main you might miss out on some great cases, some new main plot info ( like Gin left handless ). The more Anime I watch, the more I see new things. Watching the same episode several times can show you new things you missed the first time. And coming back to earlier stories after they are mentioned can lead to a new understanding. An Example is the Red Horse case being mentioned is a later story and movie 2 talked about in movie 7. If you do not watch the fillers, you could miss out. Just my dime of thought.

Along the same lines of sstimson; some cases that seem to be filler, sometimes lead to something that becomes important to the main plot. A good example is the first case with Araide, which seemed like a normal murder case, and then it turned into a key element later on with Vermouth dressed as Araide. Or even the Door Bell ringing case where we get introduced to Rena. So, lets not dismiss this case and should read it even if it seems like it could be filler.

Akai-kun, what do you mean? They're unrelated, kinda, in a way.

from the content, it doesn't seem to be a light case. Will work on the translation later.
