Yes, I think so. He might be a referee or a teacher given how he was in the arena.

I suppose that will be specified when the police arrive into the scene unless Okita recognizes him before that.
Spoiler:
Yep, you were totally right.

And about the case, I think it would last, at least until file 995, because they still have to investigate and there's all this confession/not-confession Shinichi/not-Shinichi thing going on.
On the actual file, well, Okita is hilarious. And poor Ran, always thinking in her Shinichi. I feel bad for her. Although it is kind of nice to have a file in which Conan gets rather few panels.

@k11chi:
Spoiler:
No, this is going to be 4 files for sure. The suspects have just been introduced and Conan hasn't figured out which of them is the culprit while Heiji and Okita want to settle the score.

Side-note doesn't say series resolution either.

Spoiler:
Side note: it isn't physically possible for Okita to be the grandson of a man who died in 1868. It's 2017, and assuming that Okita's 17 like most other high school characters in Gosho's series, he couldn't have been born earlier than 1999.
Assuming that Okita's father was born in 1868 and died at the age of 120 (which would be older than any male person in confirmed documented history), that'd amount to him dying around 1988-89, which is still too early for him to be Okita's father.

Granting even that Yaiba was first released in 1988, and even assuming that for Okita that's the present year, he still couldn't have been born earlier than 1970, in which case his father would've had a child at a minimum of 101-102 years old.

On 991 Spoilers:
Spoiler:
Looks like the guy that would make Shinichi/Conan jealous that Gosho mentioned in a recent postcard has appeared—and it's a guy with Shinichi's face. :D

I expected Ran to be attracted to Okita, but what I was caught off guard by was Okita being into Ran.

Your move, Shinichi. :-X

Hello,
I have some ideas concerning this case:

Since Aoyama had introduced Okita (a character in Yaiba), I'm thinking about the demon that Iori had talked about, there is a character in yaiba who has the same descriptions, Onimaru

Image

also, wouldn't that old man be lying about his blindness may be to protect the culprit and why would the culprit talk about getting new cutter in front of some one even if he is blind.

It may have also just been a call back, Kazuha said that Heiji was as strong as a demon (oni) back in File 314, which is the earlier Kendo case where Okita first appeared in DC. Iori uses the same word, oni, but because they speak different dialects the rest of the wording isn't the same in japanese. The origin of it is most likely being a joke on the fact that Heiji and Onimaru share the same voice actor.

(for anyone who goes to look this up, the "demon" line is on page 2 of file 314 and the translation I found uses the word "ogre")
I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.

Thanks for the reply, but when Momiji said that she had to do something when she heard that it would be difficult for Heiji to defeat Okita, Iori said that an other opponent as strong as a demon is slated to appear, which obviously means that Okita isn't the only obstacle for Heiji, may be a new character will be introduced.

i hope it isn't yaiba, his appearance will wreck up the entire storyline. A lot things in DC are based on reality, so if things like yaiba come in it will feel strange ( that's why akako hasn't had any appearances in manga)

Gosho's gone out of his way to avoid having an Akako appearance in DC—it's obvious Yaiba would be just as much of a spanner in the works as Akako, so he has as little of a chance appearing as she does.

The only way either of them could appear in DC, I think, would be to strip them of their powers—which, I think, at least, will not go over well with fans (feel free to correct me, those of you who wouldn't mind this).

I don't mind this, but I would understand the issues of the misrepresentation of the characters if that were to happen.
It would definitely cement the alternate-universe perception.

It's strange that Gosho hasn't done this, I think—DC Akako would have no powers, and MK Akako would. Same goes for Yaiba. And in the end, Gosho could then have these characters play a part in DC—have them do different things, different character moments/arcs, etc.—while keeping the originals, and having each do their own thing in their respective universes.

Akako having magic powers in DC, you mean?
