I know, I know, I’m basically saying DC will end soon, and virtually everyone is skeptical of that. However, recent events in the manga and Gosho’s responses in certain interviews lead me to believe that Gosho does plan to go ahead and finish the series soon. My list of reasons are below. (Also, when I say “soonâ€
um...how comes I can't see the aforementioned points that you made? ???
Yeah, looks like it was lost in the forum transfer. No problem, though, since I had it backed up. I re-posted my points, they should be in the first post now.

I'm hoping this bourbon arc would be over soon, amuro is a little bit too close for comfort. plus i think the story would progress more once gosho brings it to an end.

Well. I noticed something happened to my first post, I'll get to updating that later, hopefully.

So, yeah, I'm reviving this topic from the dead to discuss recent events from the manga and their implications:

Ok, so we learn that Sera and Conan has met before, that sera won't tell Conan yet for some reason, and an additional hint is given when we are told that Sera reminds Ran of waves. So after the Shrine case (Ch. 850-852), Bourbon is now aware that Conan is working with the FBI, and has gained some valuable hints regarding Akai's supposed death. More so, Conan later finds out about it and apanics. When he calls Haibara we learn that her BO radar hasn't picked up anything lately, becuase she wasn't focusing due to feeling safe after her faked death aboard the Mystery Train. Amuro overhears Conan's conversation, which won't reveal much to him, but it did get him more suspicious.

Ok, so let's review:
Sera and Conan have met before
Sera reminds Ran of waves
Bourbon knows Conan is with the FBI
Haibara's BO radar has become useless
There are hints of how Akai possibly faked his death being given out

The above is all significant in that the plot development continues. The fact that we're learning more about Sera's past, her connection to Ran and Conan, and that hints about how Akai could have faked his death are being pointed out to the reader indicate that we're slowly moving towards a climax for this arc. Amuro's advances on Conan are accelerating, and considering how he can't rely on Haibara' sense of BO agents anymore, Conan is in genuine danger more than ever because he can't tell if BO members are around him and Bourbon is aware of his capabilities and is in close proximity to him. In short, Gosho continues to break the status quo more and more, as I mentioned in the first post, and recent plot developments and their frequency seem to hint at an approaching climax. There's still a few more things left to cover in th bourbon arc to cover, but if the pace continues like this, its easy to see the Bourbon arc ending this year or the beginning of the next, in time for a new arc.

If we assume the end of this arc to be a long confrontation like Clash of Red and Black, we can guess that the climax could begin before ch. 900 and continue to it. Here Gosho could introduce more BO members like Korn and Chianti, members that don't have their own arcs, but probably not too many; Gosho stated he's mostly run out of good names for new members. If the climax of the Bourbon arc includes a confrontation between Bourbon, Akai, the BO, and the climax of Ran's suspicions, it could be bigger than anything we've seen yet. It'd be fitting to top it off with info regarding Anokata, which Gosho might do for next year. This'll be excellent for the setup of a final arc next year.

Just some more ideas.

I think most of us do. Detective Conan is great and we all love it, but after nearly two decades an end would be nice, I think.

I don't think DC is ending soon. Why:
- Gosho said in one interview from 2005 (I think) that DC will not last more than 3 months, and another 8 years passed without an ending.
- Gosho said about an kiss soon between Shinichi and Ran and also an 'major role' of Ran's 17th Birthday.
- DC movie 18 has been confirmed for 14 April 2014.

Now Bourbon arc hasn't started yet. I may start in July or August 2013. Other than this, I see nothing bad for Gosho to continue the series, it's very popular in Japan and has a lot of fans worldwide.
But an ending would be good for DC too... it's already too long.
