I think that Shuukichi just stayed in Japan because he wanted to be a shogi player like his stepbrother Haneda Kouji: he does say in this case that he likes shogi.
So Shuukichi feels totally unrelated to the BO and it's proven in this file that they hadn't seen or talked to each other for 7 years so it can be the same: Shuuichi went back to US and Shuukichi lost contact with him but he thinks he's working for the FBI there.
"Yunnie translated the gist of it: Chapter callled a wizard in ripples
Akai papa - Akai Tsutomu
Mary is reminded of him because of Shuichi
Shinichi called Shuichi Watson because he was not ‘as cool as Holmes’. Shuichi is British
Sera calls Shinichi a wizard because he made Shuichi smile. Masumi wore the swimsuit that reminds him of 10 years ago to stir Shinichi’s memory up.
Conan put two and two together and knows everything about the Akai family. He is sure Mary drank APTX.
Masumi realized he remembered everything. Shinichi realized she knows about his identity. The criminal is the woman. Yusaku found it because of wristwatch!"

As much as I share in the criticism of the latter portion of the series myself, I can definitely agree here. You'd think he'd remember Eri much better given as you said that he's seen her more often, plus she's an important person to his childhood friend.
Arguably one of the best attempts at tackling the story of "Ran discovering the secret behind Conan". It's strong point is taking a common plot for Detective Conan fan fics and presenting it in a fresh manner such as:
- Touching on things that aren't dealt with in the show or discussed much.
- While there is some understanding towards Conan's predicament, the fic doesn't ignore the problematic approach he takes towards keeping quiet.
So, do yourself a favor and read this. I only wish I could so something half as decent.

Plus, it's not like Eri's intro case (105–107/32), where he's explicitly told who she is by the end—him being in the dark lasts 2 Files. Here, we had to wait 130–200 Files for him to be implicitly hinted in a specific way, leading to a flashback.
Length and repetition... it just keeps cropping up... like the wizard/the magician part.
We know she called him a wizard/a magician because he made Shuichi smile and laugh when she could not. Question is, how many cases will we have to wait until it gets confirmed?

Yeah, we have to wait but I think in the mean time it will not be boring like in Bourbon arc because...
Spoiler:
Next case, we have a new detective. Lol, the number of new characters in this arc is just insane. Hyoue Kuroda, Wasaka Rumi, Haneda Kohji, Akai Tsutomu, Scotch and now we have a new detective (I think another super sleuth). After this case, I think Conan will focus on investigating these characters, unlike in Bourbon arc he just had to solve random cases until Sera and Rei were introduced.

Gosho's made it pretty clear that the Akais are tied to Rum, so, ideally, developments will cut both ways.
A new detective, huh? High school, or a detective in his 20s/30s, I wonder.

Spoiler:
Unlikely to be a high school detective. Shinichi, Heiji, Sera are enough already. I hope that this new detective has the same caliber as Akai and Rei, not only in deduction but also in martial arts. If he/she has relationship with BO or other agencies, that will be great.

To be honest, I'm betting on her to be the "new" character next case, even if its a bit too early for Heiji to come back.
I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.
Yeah. The text spoilers don't reveal anything that we didn't know already by the leaked pics of the file and what Yunnie-chan wrote on her blog.
BREAK NEXT WEEK: next file will be out on October the 12th
To sum it up:
Spoiler:
. Robber accomplice is the woman because her clock is set at 10:10 and that's the hour clock shops tend to put their clocks when showing them
. She came dressed like that to mix with the people at the beach and bought the sandals because she couldn't use bills (they were wet) or credit card
. She killed man robber because she wanted boot for herself but it'd seem falling to the sea was not her plan
. Yuusaku and Shuuichi reached the same conclusion: Shuuichi has experienced solving a mystery and Mary is reminded of her husband Tsutomu
. Mary wanted Shuuichi to be a father-like figure to Shuukichi and Masumi but gives up on that
. Shinichi tells Shuuichi the police want him to come along to tell them the details at the station but Shuuichi declines and entrusts Shinichi to do that instead
. Shuukichi tells his big bro that his "deduction" reminds him of Holmes, Shinichi says that Holmes is cooler than that
. But says that he wasn't that bad, he'll concede him he could be at level similar to Watson
. Masumi tells Shinich he's like a wizard because he makes his biggest bro laugh
. Back to present, Conan realizes that Sera bought that swimsuit in purpose to make him remember the encounter and realizes she knows about his identity
. Come to these he knows that the glassed guy he saw back then with Shuuichi is Shuukichi and the "sister outside the domain" is Mary, their mother
. Conan wonders when, where and whom forced Mary to ingest APTX 4869
. Masumi thinks she's got another reason for calling Conan a "wizard"
