Does anyone know what the deal is with the heads of different characters that appear off to the side on some of the pages in the manga? They are above a bunch of untranslated text. I realize they're not too important otherwise they would be translated but I'm curious.
I don't know whether this is a common manga convention or something just found in Detective Conan. Sorry, if this is a stupid question. Feel a little sympathy for me, the first two cases I ever read I read from left to right, so obviously I'm pretty clueless about this.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Re: Floating Heads
(I deleted your post, Raso, 'cause it was spoilerific and was actually not what he was looking for. Thanks though)
Those little heads off to the side just recap the character's history in the series. They're pretty worthless to people who follow the series. SS likely requires them so that anyone just randomly picking up the magazine and seeing Conan will have some remote idea as to what's going on. For regular fans though, useless.

ahh sorry I completely misunderstood what he was asking about and that was the only page I could think of off hand (I just reread that chapter last night) and was too lazy to edit just the bubble lol

OOOH!!! I've been wondering about that for SO LONG!!! OMG!! I was actually going to ask on a forum one of these days: thanks for beating me to it!
I've been trying to learn Japanese and translating them on my own. The only problem is, I don't own a good jap-eng dictionary and babelfish sucks at japanese. AND, oftentimes the symbols are too small to even see (online)!! So, now that I know what they are, I don't have to worry! Yay!!
