What promted you guys to read/watch detective conan?

More than 10 years ago it was the only cartoon-like show airing at night in local tv, so it was DC or soap operas, I chose DC and some years ago I saw a Case Closed episode and was like "I remember this show, it had lots of blood" and I started to watch it again

It's a combination of a someone's Godchild Magic Kaito plot bunny and interesting dub epsodenaming/episode listings for fios's Funi on demand.  After that rightstuff holiday sale.

My cousin got one volume for christmas in 1998, I 'read' it (1st volume was published in april 1997 here !), I was quite young so it didn't really strike me. I quickly forgot about it.
In 2004, the anime aired here and somehow my cousin who despite apparenly not having bought another volume in the meantime remembered it.
I would watch the anime almost on a daily basis and I started buying the manga volumes. When the anime was no longer broadcasted (end of 2007) I went to look on the internet and that's when I started watching episodes in japanese. At that time (early 2008), the first non-subbed episode was the 207th one (although some of them had the oh so famous crappy subs), I learned about DCTP, found the website, decided to skip some episodes, watch others in foreign dubs and just follow the weekly releases.

I watched Korean dubed version in Korea WAY WAY back in Dc episode 1... then I forgot about it when I came to NZ and I only started watch subbed version few eons ago.

I've absolutely been in love with Whodunits ever since I started watching TV. I used to watch "Murder - she wrote" with Angela Lansbury (yes, I'm growing old) and all that kind of mystery series. I enjoy reading Agatha Christie's Poirot and Miss Marple.

When I was eleven, I once left my TV switched on while I was in the next room and, not aware of the show currently being on that channel, I heard Conan making his deduction so brilliantly that I was fascinated. After years of abstinence, I'm finally back ;-)

Highschool friend who's watched a shitton of anime got me into it.

I like mysteries.  So I got into it.  I become more obsessed with it than friend.  Friend stops watching at ep 140.  I'm still watching.

A friend of mine (Micowla) showed me a copy of volume 2 that she's gotten out of the library when I was at a sleepover at her house. Actually, that was the same sleepover where I read my first manga.

I intially saw it on Adultswim I think....or Toonami, whichever back in either Middle School or High School.  Got into it and it suddenly ended.  For some reason it took until....hrm about a year or two ago for me to remember that you could find fansubs on the internet, and either through youtube, or ending up at this website I started getting into it again.

i was new into anime then, a close friend of mine said that animes were the new cartoons so i decided to try it out. eventually, i came across dc on animax. if i remember right, it was an old episode about baseball. i finished the ep and found it interesting but didnt really too care much about it. next day, i happened to catch dc again! i finished the ep like the day before, except something was different, i was hooked.

Maybe you first saw episode 41 (the worst AO of the 0-100 zone) and then episode 42 the next day (a great emotional case). That would explain your rather rapid change of opinion.
