IMO, Gosho forgets interactions between characters a lot lately. Especially if he squeezes a lot of characters into one chapter/case, it's impossible for him to give them a lot of interactions
He seems to focus on the case and forgets about the characters XD

Well, Twilight has a lot of chapters and something barely resembling a plot. Detective Conan has even more chapters, and while it has plot the number of chapters is increasing far quicker than the amount of plot. Thus, the ratio is stretching.

I don't mind the cases really, I LOVE the cases, they don't really feel like "annoying fillers" to me because to me the whole point of reading DC was having a new case to solve every few weeks on the bus xD.  However it would be nice if I actually have more reasons to care about the characters who are dead/murderers/bystanders/background scenery.  It might allow for more elaborate cases (maybe?).

One good thing about a long series over a short series is that you get to care about the characters (sometimes even too much *looks at Ranger and coughs something inaudible* ) and I agree with Kirite and Kleene that, even if I'm a mistery otaku myself (not to the level of Shinichi of course X), I'd apreciate more character interaction.

Anywya, even if there's 0 possibility of Ran and Shiho interacting as lovers we could still get plenty of sweet moments of them interacting as an older sister with a younger stubbornly cute sister XP

How can posibly exist an anime/manga/anything-else that has worst plot-to-chapter ratio than DC??
