From what I've heard people are complaining that the cases are starting to lack in the excitement that we had at the beginning of the series. And they're probably not geniuses on crime like Gosho. I'd imagine that the cases will start to lack even more.
But you REALLY wouldn't mind it if Genta started to randomly date Haibara? XD to me, characters being in... well, character are really important.
The show being 15 years old might explain why some people complain. However most cases are still at least decent IMO. Also, when the producers really want to make good fillers, they manage to do it (episodes 603-605). Besides, the best cases don't necessarly get the best ratings anyway, the show could end up being crap and the little kids in japan would still watch it since they usually don't have high expectations.
the anime and manga are very very closely linked in DC (relatively speaking) and given the small gap that exists currently i wouldn't be surprised if they end at the same time).
it's certainly true that they will keep making movies as long as the movies are profitable, but the lack of episodes/manga will not help that at all.
and yeah, such and such being ooc is overblown.
I think they'll animate the end (assuming there actually is one someday) and then keep making episodes as if nothing ever happened. Since episodes are used to promote the movies, it's important to keep making them in order for the cash flow to continue.

) And Yes, I suppose they have made some decent fillers. I guess I just don't like fillers unless they're FULL of character development! XD
