There are multiple Conans/Kogoros/Rans/…?  :o

you probably know what I mean but I'll explain anyway.

Like say there are two cases. 1.  a case that takes place in a single day, 2. a case that takes a week.  Not every single day will have anything happen with the 2nd case, they just get back to it after finishing a case that's solved fairly quickly, like the 1st case. The 1st case takes place during a day where they are waiting for new info relevent to the 2nd case. So, the 2nd case begins on a Friday and there is a crime or...something but they don't get involved until Sunday. So on Saturday the 1st case happens and it's solved that day. Then on Sunday they go back to the 2nd case.

The problem is: There is no indication of that happening, ever.

yes but I could see it being the only logical explanation if we want an even remotely sane timeline

I think the only real timeline that Gosho has in mind is that I think he plans to have the series resolve before the school year ends for Ran and Shinichi. Like I said, just my own reasoning but I think that is the only reason to try and squeeze the entire series into such a floating timeline.
