Now that you mentioned the last interview with Gosho, I went and checked it out: http://detective-conan-news.blogspot.co ... rview.html
I was alarmingly upset regarding what he said about retiring by the age of 53 (i.e. about six years from now!) :'(
What's disturbing me more is whether he's going to end Conan way sooner than his retirement... :-\
Anyways, it is to be hoped that he is undecided about it...

Editor's opinion =/= writer's opinion

He actually said that he would like to retire at the age of Agassa, but apparently he said that humouressly more than anything else, so I wouldn't take it (too) seriously.

He would be proud because his work has been brought to a lot of people thanks to such smart, reliable and faithful fans (you all know whom I am talking about). Plus, reading through this http://www.dctp.ws/Staff.html, I don't think he would complain anything about authority/copyright related matters. DCTP team is the most straightforward and serious fansub group I've ever known. Not to mention several awesome logical theories and interesting debates which proposed by fans. Personally, I could not imagine a more pleasant gift a mangaka wish to recieve.

I think he'll be happy about so many fans.
Maybe get scared by some theories, or scared how close some theories are. Definitely laugh at some of those "random/fun theories" we produce too XD

Tho I doubt he would read the forum. Maybe a bit if he'd knew about it.
Because:

1) He doesn't really have so much time
2) DCTP is in english, so reading it would consume him more time than reading a japanese DC Forum

On the other hand, reading too many theories could make him waver from his original idea and plan. If he changes too much because of fans theories/ideas, the whole story he planed could become inconsistent.

Edit: Yay for 1000 post \o/

while in some ways it would be totally awesome to use some of the fan's ideas... one the other hand there are so much fanideas that have like a e.g 50% pro and 50% con basis that it would just be stupid to overthrow his own draft for something like this... you never can satisfy everyone but as long as he follows his own flow he can't get critizised about using this idea and not that.. so given the fact that he is quite smart i think he avoids doing fanservice as much as possible

still i think he is at least aware of many fancommunities but i doubt he is reading them by himself at least not the non-japanese ones, he may have as said above an assistant or two to read some of the forums
and i think he would think how awesome you guys are for translating and subbing in that short amount time every week... that shows how much his work is appreciated outside of japan, so
Just because you're not paranoid, doesn't mean nobody is following you!

He probably isn't here. xD I wouldn't think he'd know anything about the site.

@red.orchid : One Piece sold 23 million volumes in the last six months (20 million more than the 2nd best selling series which is Gantz).

(still doesn't make it good in my eyes, but that's just me)

If I was a mangaka, that would scare me actually.

In terms of ratings, DC's were higher most of the time from 1999 (that's apparently when OP started airing) to 2008-9. It changed in favor of OP in 2009-2010 and as a proof of that, DC has beaten OP only once since the beginning of this year (they're usually quite close though, and both are always in the weekly top ten). I don't know about fillers though, you'd have to ask the specialists in the OP topic for that.
