Most favorite and least favorite scene in the series

Postby Dwalin » May 12th, 2011, 4:01 pm

My favorite scene is the ending of the episode 225 when the Detective boys managed to solve a case without Conan’s help and Conan’s theories are revealed to be completely wrong, much to his anger.

My least favorite scene is that in the first OVA, when the little old woman seems to be infatuated with Kaito Kid (don’t know why, but I had so much hope in this character, I thought she would be the only one able to beat the arrogance out of Kid, especially after the scene where she beats the policemen).

Least favorite scene:  pretty much anything including Genta.  Seriously, he gets on my nerves.

Favorite:  pick any Akai scene.  But I also really liked the revelation in The Man Who Was Killed Four Times, or whatever it was called.

Hmm... favourite scene, got it!  ;D Episode 304/ Volume36, the Takagi - Conan elevator scene...
Least favourite... *thinks* ...maybe when Shinichi is first unshrunk during Desperate Revival, he goes around acting almost exactly like he was before he got turned into Conan! It just feels like all that character development went down the drain...

No, I actually have 2 favorite scenes! The second one is from an episode I don't remember the number of, featuring Yamamura investigating a murder in the mountains. The scene is with Yamamura falling face down in the snow and Conan continuing to talk with his voice and pretending nothing happened.

favorite: Haibara revealing her real identity
least favorite: Not one particular scene comes to mind...um...I dunno? I'd say the "Haibara figures out how to not get static electrictyed" part but that was barely a scene and it had random Super Mario Kart ripoff immediately afterwards so...

My favorite would have to be Conan's 'reveal' in episode 345. It was pinnacle of tension in that arc.

No least favorite scene comes to mind now.

My favourite scene(s), and I've already mentioned it on the forum a couple of times, is episode 270 (between 4:00-4:44, and then skipping a couple scenes till you get to 8:05-9:33) This is probably the only scene where Ai really wore her heart upon her sleeve, while Conan's tone at that point was brimming with intense melancholy; Now I'm not into the cloyingly mushy lovey-doveys, but that scene was sincerely evocative.

Least favourite would be episode 76 when Kid claims that Ran was out in the nude, so that he could run away; so cheap!

this topic has been done many times (I did it was once on the positive side and was reminded that someone had already done it). however, good discussion usually results, so i'll leave this open.

that being said, there is a very clear answer here: 304, "i'll tell you on the other side." so great in so many ways, has no parallel or equal in terms of the combination of character exposition and dramatic tension.

Favorite Scene: Forgot what episode, but it had Kaito Kid in it. Anyways it when the Detective Boys (aside from Conan) fell for a trap and went plummeting to their doom when all of a sudden Conan went James Bond, jumped down the trap, flew past all of them and prepared a soft cussion for their landing. Epic.

Least Favorite Scene: Was in episode 345 when Vermouth was about to shoot Haibara, but then Ran jumped from out of the trunk, ran across the car all slow motion-y-like, went on top of Haibara and stayed their expecting the person to keep missing for some reason. Also Ran reminding Haibara of her sister. That scene was so unnecessary on so many levels.

mad props on that choice of a least favorite. 345 tends to get an automatic pass/seal of approval, but that specific scene just sucked. it wasn't even that is was unrealistic (can say that about so many things in DC after all), it was the way it was set up and the problems it created. the whole not telling ran logic evaporates, as she got into danger that was BO related because she didn't know what was going on. would have been a much better episode if that hadn't happened at all (gosho was trying to be too cute with foreshadowing wrt the nyc case).

She didn't "expect the person to keep missing for some reason" - she was willing to take whatever bullets hit her... she was willing to die protecting Haibara. That was the power of that scene.

Also, Vermouth never wanted to shoot Ran and was intentionally missing just to scare Ran so that she could let her aim directly at Ai.

I have a lot of favorite scenes so I'll just pick one : the discussion between Sherry and Gin on the Hotel Roof in episode 178.

One of my least favorite scene (among others) : probably the end of episode 10 which was ridiculous.

(I only picked among the manga based episodes.)

I know, Its pretty obvious Vermouth didn't want to shoot Ran, but how would Ran know that?

But why didn't she just pick her up and run away? Sorry I just don't see any power in that scene and I didn't see her willing to die because it somehow seemed like she knew she wasn't going to. All I thought was "Why". Why was she even there.

Overall I just don't think Ran should have been there because just like dilbert said the whole not telling Ran about BO doesn't make sense if she is going to be in the middle of it like that

Ran had no idea that Vermouth did not want to shoot her.
What she did know is that she had already risked too much by runnig towards Ai and endangering herself by Calvados' shootings. When she had reached haibara and covered her with her own body, at that point, she only hoped that she is able to take any shots which were aimed at Haibara.

Ran knew that she was lucky enough not getting shot while running to save Ai. So now that she had reached Ai, Ran reckoned that trying to run away with Ai, would only be more reckless and more idiotic.
