A year in the DC-verse has ~5000 days( but multiple seasons) people age accordingly. There, problem solved.

I might actually reread the manga and try and piece together a time line as well as count the number of deaths. xD

Which would mean Ayumi, Genta and Mistuhiko are already 7x 5000 = 35000 days old.
In our world that would mean they are 100 years old already.

For everyone else it would be even worse. ::)

The anime has had 382 cases so far (or close to that) so I would put the number of deaths around 400. Obviously you have cases with multiple victims, but you also have plenty of Kid and DB cases where there are no murders, as well as some random cases and kidnappings, which balances it out somewhat.

Don't forget to exclude the AOs (except 128, but don't include 13).

it's like Groundhog Day, except it lasts a year and takes effect for everybody.

the cycle won't be broken until people learn to not kill each other so damn often.

Your mind... is the sce--actually, not going to go there. Too trendy.

Maybe it's time to go through all of the manga cases and work out how many days each one takes, noting every reference to a date or year (the latter of which is flexible, so it'll be disregarded, but it's good to know at least). If people just start watching random episodes/reading random cases and posting the results here, it won't take long. :o

The most tricky thing though is usually when the characters refer to some timesets. For example, a character referring to "a few weeks ago" or "a few months ago" to an incident that has already happened in the series.

For your idea, we can probably split the work and say that each member reads about 50 chapters (take or add, depending if it's in the middle of the case) and take notes of the dates. Though I suspect that like me, there are many people at the moment who are busy, and if we do this, it should probably wait to the summer.

If that all happened in a year, then that must means murder everyday.

Its because they always arrest innocent people. The real killer is the serial killer and professional hit-man "shadow guy" old joke, I know. xD

yes, this is a very big problem early on in particular. it is implied (and at times outright stated) that has been some time since the last case, because so few people are interested in kogorou's services.

i get 212 cases for that. somewhat more manageable, but still several years at the very least.

One easy way to explain it is that Detective Conan happens on another planet that just happens to be very, very, very, very similar to the one we live on.  This planet takes much longer to go around the sun than ours does, taking somewhere between 50 and 100 months (or possibly more) to actually do so.  The planet wobbles on its axis a lot, meaning the seasons come and go many times in one year, with a new season appearing about every three months.  Because the names of the months are based on the season cycle, and not on the year, there are only twelve named months, and each month will occur numerous times during the year.  So, because the planet has yet to make it all the way around the sun, it makes sense that they haven't aged a full year in the series.

There's also a legend on this planet that the world and everyone on it was brought into being by a god named Aoyama, and he set the lengths of days, months and those really, really long years.  Of course, this has since been disproved by science.   ;)
