Best/worst "HOW DOES THIS TIMELINE POSSIBLY WORK" theories.

Postby kkslider5552000 » March 23rd, 2011, 3:03 am

Topic title says it all.

My idea is that the universe of Detective Conan goes through two calendar years before anyone ages one year or goes to the next grade level either.

If it's revealed to be true, it'll be like that dissappointing Custom Robo game where the earth is suddenly revealed to be flat only for 10 seconds later for one of the characters to reveal it's actually round (no, I'm not kidding, that really happens).

Well, see, basically... "James Bond" is actually just a codename assigned to an assortment of agents over the years.

It's been valentines day at least two times as far as I remember and everyone is still in the same grade :|
Maybe they suck in school and can't graduate? ::)

The first Valentine's Day was an AO, so it doesn't count.

Anyhow, I just overlook the inconsistencies with the timelines. If I really had to elaborate a theory, I would say there a two timelines, one for the every-day cases which doesn't make any sense and where time references are given randomly and one with the plot (BO cases and maybe those were Shinichi returns) where there is, I guess, some kind of coherence.

I've barely watched the anime :-\
I'm pretty sure it was in the manga

There was only one Valentine's day Case (Volume 33). However, the White Day case stated that the Stakeout Case (Volume 60) took place on February the 14th,  maybe that's what you're thinking about ?

Spoiler:
No one should read this. It is the ravings of an already sleep deprived person, once more awake terribly late at night.

As I write this, I should, instead, be like this kitty.

Yet I am not, so you have been warned. :P

There are about 168,215,677,103 clones of everyone that has appeared in DC. All the cases are happening simultaneously in separate, practically identical universes (but nevermind them), except for the story related ones.

The story related cases happen to only the "originals" (from which the hundred billion+ clones were birthed), in a timeless realm where seconds, minutes, weeks, months, years are merely nonsense words, used occasionally to ground their demesne in our reality. The terms are otherwise negligible to them, with little meaning and bearing.

The cavalcade of the seasons and the hammer of nature as it cracks open the sky to usher in the silvered moon or the burning sun - facades. Ersatz facsimiles! A ruse. A world where time is nonexistent? Impossible, madness, you say? I am not insane. As they slumber, Chronos, the god of Time whom has deigned to look upon their Japan, steals back the seconds, the months, sweeps time and the concept itself back into the folds of his grey beard.

Shinichi/Conan will remain both, concurrently, 17 and 7. Ayumi, Genta, Mistuhiko, etc. etc. are as old as they ever will be. They will never age. Their tomorrow will, unfailingly, be their yesterday yet different.

??? ??? ???
I have no idea.

The APTX didn't just shrink Conan and Haibara, but it also messed up the time. Thus the time still flows, but for everyone, that conan get's involved with, the time is frozen ;D

Awesome theory Image (Image).

It is manga, my dears. MANGA... if you ask Gosho this, he will simply answer you with one honest line... "Because it is MANGA~ (LAUGHS)"

The timeline in DC sometimes follows our real world timeline Image. Remember the release of the case of Eri's birthday? Her birthday was the 10th of October I think... the file was released around that date, too Image~
There's so many many more, but that's all what I can think of for now more~

when i woke up this morning, i was thinking about making a topic with roughly the topic title, "what is the shortest period of time you could compress the events of DC into."

nice job going into my mind and stealing it.
Detective Movies Contest 2013: Information Thread  Current Faceoff

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

Your mind... is the sce--actually, not going to go there. Too trendy.

Maybe it's time to go through all of the manga cases and work out how many days each one takes, noting every reference to a date or year (the latter of which is flexible, so it'll be disregarded, but it's good to know at least). If people just start watching random episodes/reading random cases and posting the results here, it won't take long. :o
