movie 6 had quite possibly the worst murder mystery in DC history. this failure was tempered by enjoyable action and suspense elements that were coupled with a cute and resonant setting, but still, i had trouble overlooking just how bad the mystery was.

i mean:

not a whodunit-we see schindler do it.
not a howdunit-the statue 'trick' is also not concealed at all.
not a whatdunit-the knife.
not a whendunit-there is no timing trick.
not a where dunnit, we see exactly where the murder takes place.
maybe it is vaguely close to a whydunit, though the jtr connection is not exactly a surprise.

though the jtr example did provide a good example of differing cultural norms. in reality, assuming he lived in america, schindler probably wouldn't have to hide his background; people would praise him for rising above his dark past.

Uh... this may be a bit cliche, but really there is no good reason for murder. And clearly the point of DC (besides the whole mystery thing) is to show that no matter the reason murder is bad, and you will be caught.

If I'm not mistaken Conan has even become a mascot for rallies and events promoting safety. But I could be mistaken.

Although as it is, Conan’s pretty much proven that despite the level of depression or anger of the murderer, there’s no real reason to commit murder. He’s even said it himself, while many of the murders have often went: “OMG I’M SO SORRY! ;____;â€

I’m surprised people find the Holmes Freak Murder Case weird. xD. I recall hearing awhile back that  some Asian dude married a cartoon/anime character legally. (Sadly, I don’t have the article for this anymore. ;___; It was so far back. Whoever finds it though gets virtual cookies? XD.) But this isn’t about that, but it still proves the level of how obsessive someone can be over something. >.>

They're too much in the AOs which i don't remember anymore and that is good.

The only thing I remember is in most of the AOs, after the culprit confesses his/her stupid reasoned crime, Inspector Megure goes crazy and shouts at the culprit similar like these "That is not a reason to KILL someone" or "YOU are the bad guy now that you killed someone over it". He tries to teach a lesson to the murderer and the TV audience. That's just how i love that Megure goes berserk : )

The sad part is, that those dumb, chessy reasons are usually also reasons for real murders :/

A "reason" I understood was when that one mother killed the murderer of her son after years passed by and that dude didn't remember her face anymore :V It's not a "good reason", but I can understand that the mother would go mad and kill him in rage over it D:

as for real murders, generally the victim is not secretly evil the way they so often are in DC.

I think conan is focused on revealing the trick that the murder used rather than the reason to do the murder.

so the authors think so hard for the trick and don`t think hard for the reason . even though some tricks sometimes completely impossible to do :p

well.. even though there are some dumb reasons, but in real life it`s actually happened. in my region there is a case that Tom killed Harry just because Harry was joking about Tom while he was drunk

I actually thought the The Holmes Freak Case had a good reason, In that it fit well with what the case was about.

Oh, Sonoko's Dangerous Summer Story had a stupid reason, a girl dumped him so he decided to kill any girl with similar hair.

Pretty sure that was Ted Bundy's reasoning, then again he was probably just a nutter anyways.

The thing I never got though, with these peoples dumb reasons to kill, is how they are still willing to do it after all their planning.  I mean, these killers can be pretty darn creative.  You would think after spending a month brushing up on physics so that could could lob that brick just right to make it trigger the bow the turn the water facet, to activate the electricty to kill whoever they are going to kill, and how to get away with it, they might stop and go hey.....why do I feel I need to kill this person again?  Then again if they spent so much time crafting their plan, maybe they figure, why waste it, its a perfectly good plan.
