it's a shop, yeah, but the idea of Daniel Craig as Gin + The Rock as Vodka would be awesome :P

If DC ever had a live-action American release... I would be scared D:

Exactly.

I think this is one of those things that American directors/producers just can't pull off.

Surprised they haven't, it seems like something they'd like to make a kid's film out of.

From Executive Producer Jerry Bruckheimer comes the story of a teenaged detective mysteriously shrunken into a child...

Yeah, no.  Even he couldn't pull it off.

Roman Polanski details the Jodie/Vermouth ark in the longest non-documentary/experimental film since Burning of the Red Lotus Temple.

He said he'd do it for free if we gave him the little girl who played Ai.

Let it be known that domestic Japanese talent didn't exactly change the world with their two attempts. :-X

Personally, I consider it impossible to manage for anyone. Conan's far too cartoony to make sense as live-action and have even remotely the same effect; much of its charm would be lost acted out in front of a camera. The first live action drama was somewhat.... fun... at the time if only for the novelty, but the second kind of proved why this is never going to work. For the second drama to have even been decent, you would have needed a Japanese child actor with some versatility. Considering how rare that trait is even amongst adult actors in the market in question, I can't say I ever really had high hopes for either of the actual dramas.

Fun fact: Nothing on DCTV back in the day saw heckling as extensive as did the two dramas. Anytime we did play them, they were mocked from beginning to end. I think the red panda zoo videos went over better with the Conan demographic. :P

The only way an American live-action release (or Japanese, for that matter) would work is to merely take the concept and (a select few) characters, and run with that. If they try to make it too "true to the original" it'll end out mega-failz - can you imagine them doing a lameduck quiz complete with Agasa and the DB?  :P

Btw that first movie poster at least had been around for quite some time.. Don't know who most of the others are, but Effron as Kudo seems fine by me.

Expect the hate machine to roll in any minute now, but honestly, that is a studio's dream. He'd be able to manage the part (he's actually a solid actor, despite what haterz that hate because it's the k00l thAnG 2 dO say) and he's bankable. What's interesting is there were rumors he was close to signing onto the American version of Death Note as Light, which would be incredible for that project.
