Just for fun, just for fun.

Detective Conan has a type of drawing that is very hard to draw compare to other mangas and anime,
and it's also very easy to look weird. TAT

Please don't add all the old old conan Ep that you think it's bad...

You call THOSE cute but complain about an ending sequence where the point of the sequence was for the art to look that way?

There was a group of artists that would rotate doing the artwork many years ago. That person in charge of that episode (the first three pictures) was the worst of the group. Just because it was "15-14 years ago" doesn't mean it automatically gets a free pass. While the artwork wasn't as good then, there were some pretty good episodes, art-wise, by the time the series reached that episode.

Just because it was "15-14 years ago" doesn't mean it automatically gets a free pass. While the artwork wasn't as good then, there were some pretty good episodes by the time the series reached that episode.

Ending art, I'm complaining cuz the ending art director at that time, Tominaga Mari, declared that he'd have a period of rest.
Because of that, the ending 'White Snow' was used until middle of Spring,
and the director made an excuse that he didn't have an art director to draw the ending, and led to Origami stuff replacing the drawings.

I guess that was my real complaint about that origami ending stuff.



Though the first three are one of my favorite art director's drawing, i'd say,
since i do think that he well demonstrated the 'cuteness' of old conan had.
I do know that it is a lot different from the manga,
but as a child who was 3 at that time watching Detective Conan,
those were the episiodes that caught my attention 12 years ago.

I still think that those drawing are lot better than the ones used for first four opening and ending, and even the first MV.
I guess that's only me who thought they those drawings were cute or something//

I'll pit episode 86, The Kidnapping Location Case, against anything in the 500s, or any other episode for that matter.  Apart from the ones I posted previously, here are a few more where they have particular trouble drawing faces.

Jd, show em 523. The other 2 before it sucked as well in that regard but that episode MY GOD. (also this will give me an excuse to finally compare it to the redone version of a particular scene that was shown in the Tori man case)

Also I'll probably post something from the first half of the Dark Photograph sometime as I saw that recently and it sucked A LOT as well.

I haven't had time to actually go through the episodes to thoroughly demonstrate how poorly animated they are, but here's a glimpse at Predator Hattori that I noticed while skimming just 522:

Oh, and this little classic, featuring Kogorou cels from other episodes and a "How do I draw this guy!?" Shinichi, with a side cameo from Predator Ran:

What kills them is side views. They just cannot handle them. They also mess up the proportions on all faces whenever possible, as seen here on oversized Chibi Hattori:

I'm going to go through 523 in a bit. That's when we really get into the Infected Zone.

But 523 is the worst from 521 to 523.

But why is that "chibi hattori"? Maybe I can't see what you mean with just that one frame.
