This would be awesome.

Or if Kid gets pissed off at the impersonators and beats their asses, like he normally does for impersonators.

The Mori Kogoro Adoption Agency... that also sounds kinda awesome XD

An agency where you're only eligible for adoption if you're a single father, a drunkard, smoker, and a gambler? Sounds like a good idea. :)

Hilarity aside, if the thieves want to be Kaitou Kids, they need to know that they're doing it wrong. All of it.

I can't believe they call themselves Kaito Kids when they don't at least respect the character's principles. I'd be more upset if I find out they hurt someone.  >:(

has there ever been kids doing stuff in the name of anime before? in japan or america...my mom's starting to get scared. the "kaitou kid of oshima" aired on american TV. mom likes detective conan too but she's starting to worry.

she got a laugh out of it at first saying " Y670,000, thats nothing" but she's never heard of other anime related stuff of kid's doing.

she's getting worried.

I stopped reading the CNN article when the first sentence compared cosplaying to MARRYING AN ANIME CHARACTER. THERE'S KIND OF A BIG DIFFERENCE THERE YOU MORONS.

...

*continues reading*

It uses Wiki as a source for info, tremendous.

A shame as the rest of the article is surprisingly ok.

The author actually didn't compare the two--they didn't even equate them. Instead, they simply mentioned them in the same sentence in terms of, "If you are passionate enough about a character, you may either dress up as them or marry them." Hardly sacrilege or some egregious slant on the entire scene.

They also didn't "use" Wikipedia as a source. Using something as a source and providing a link to a page on Wikipedia to ease readers into facilitating further information if they so wish are two completely different concepts. Hobby and fan sites that are Conan or Kid-centric will hardly be as useful to the general reader of a CNNGo article as would the mainstream-focused Wikipedia article. It's not the ideal source of information for hardcore fans such as mostly everyone here (I'd recommend the DCW one for this demographic), but it's certainly the sort of article you would use to introduce someone completely unfamiliar with the source material to it.

It's a well-written article. Moving on~
