The Conan OP/EDs have always been of at least acceptable if not relatively high production value. Effort went into them, and some of them maintained a distinct visual style throughout. In this OP, the color mixing is atrocious and all over the place. I'm not surprised something this poor went out, as they have let some remarkably poor animation go out over the past few years in the actual episodes themselves.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that thought the color mixing used made it look even worse.  It's like they randomly threw stuff together & hoped it looked good.

As for the OP, I hope this OP only lasts a few months.  It brings back memories of the "Thrill, Shock, Suspense" OP, but it's just horrible compared to that.  Instead of having one of the characters dancing though.  They have, what I'm guessing, is an animated version of the singer dancing.

Between the OP & ED, they either rushed it through or the budget for them was severely cut.  I'm hoping the remasters the next 2 weeks will mash-ups of old OPs, just to see if it does a better job for the songs.

There are five "scenes" in total in the ED, and they're all just loops of a few frames with cherry blossoms falling/Conan aimlessly running (though there's one part that's a little cringe-worthy). It has to be some of the laziest work they've ever done.

I dunno, that sounds like 95% of EDs ever (since EDs usually suck).

That 5 % is Step by step, and of course evil Eisuke ending.

I didn't even think about it until now, but isn't the episode preview they usually put in the OP missing?  Seems like that 15th anniversary graphic is where it should be.  Either that or it was cut out of the clips online.

Yeah. Apparently the 15th anniversary ad took up all of the prologue space. At least Conan still talks about the episode.

I hadn't noticed that but it's indeed ridiculous. This 15th anniversary thing is going a bit too far. Let's just hope they won't keep that up too long.

What actually takes up the preview time is a segment before the call-in overlay on the ED sequence (not sure if this is what was actually being referred to or not). This segment has Conan talking about the things on offer and stuff, and lasts as long as a preview. We cut this out of the releases because it's just an extension of the call-in (though it comes before) and we're not going to sub Conan doing an advertisement for a pack of stickers.

The call-ins are just "ugh" at this point. They run them for up to two months at a time and just keep going with it--it isn't just this latest stretch, if anyone's forgotten the past few times they've done the exact same thing. And worse yet, they have the call-in playing when they're premiering a new ED. It's almost like... they don't even care...

I had forgotten about that, but after reading your post I remembered seeing it in a raw so I did a little research and found it. It doesn't seem to appear in every single episode though, unless the raw providers took them out (the one I took is from episode 595, the latest one I could find).

601 had it too. They are a bit sporadic, but unfortunately, they don't bother with previews in place of them regardless. I have never been a fan of previews, but everything about the call-ins annoys me; I'd gladly see them return sans call-in screen!

That's the thing that seems to be missing from the OP.

Oh, no, that's not what I was talking about. Though, that obnoxious 15th anniversary logo that comes up in the OP now (which started a few episodes ago) will probably play out for months and months. They had a chance to make it more seamless with this new OP, but just didn't bother for some reason. With this being the OP to kick off the 15th anniversary, you would've expected something at least.

The bit I'm talking about comes right before the ED. As I said above, we cut them out of the releases.

Weeeell... it's definitely the worst opening to date.

It's poorly executed, no originality whatsoever, embarrassing effects aplenty that all look like they were the output of an amateur Windows Movie Maker user, and then there's the dance. Nothing really has to be said about it.

Jd- they're probably trying to bring back the old days. I think that, in a way, the opening is a compilation of some of the old openings...

Though, the dance was definetly random. And they animated the girl who dances and sings it which is even more weirder. Then again, seeing Ran or Shinichi or Conan dancing to it would be weird. O.o

jd's review was harsh. i liked the effects. it was pretty standard (except the singer of the song dancing) it was ok. saying it scked just makes you lok like an idiot.

Apologies for not equating "new" to "good" as you so often do (having standards is a crime in some circles, I know). Not going to go into how your typos are incredibly ironic (though I suspect they are not typos in some cases) other than to say some are... easily pleased.

Hopefully next time you get a full dancing OP--may as well not even use Conan at all.
