Detective Conan Episode 596 (The Alibi of the Fall) Discussi

Postby kkslider5552000 » November 28th, 2010, 10:39 pm

It's pretty bad when like 30 seconds after watching this I almost already forgot to post this topic. I don't know what Ginrei was smoking to enjoy this but I want some! Basically that one shot with Conan being picked up where it almost looked like Production IG took over for a second and Kogoro almost falling ala Heiji were the only things I will remember from this case tomorrow.

The real mystery of case: what was the point of Ran being there? (oh how her character's relevence has fallen  :'()

Aw, I liked it. It had a nice atmosphere (and finally we got to see some blood ::) ). For an AO, I thought it was pretty good. And the Kogoro+Conan stuff was funny.

I think Conan wearing his blue suit instead of something out of his wardrobe o'pink shirts and tight pants always helps. :P

You seem to have forgotten how horridly bad AOs have been in the 500 era.  Just because it was rather dull doesn't make it bad, considering we've had "The true victim was that bottle of wine", "He moved a billboard to reflect the sun", so on and so forth.

Oh, maaaan... I had totally forgotten about those until just then. So, so epic.

I didn't enjoy this episode as much as I did most of the AOs. I was really disappointed when the trick that Kogoro figured turned out to be accurate, usually his reasoning is wrong. Also you people, stop attacking previous AOs in the 500s, most of them were good and enjoyable, for example the mentioned Intersection case.

You must be joking. "You didn't notice the rainbow so you're the culprit" must have been one of the most idiotic things I heard in this show. Not all the AOs in the 500s were bad but "The Intersection of fear" was terrible (so were 562, 565, 566 and a few others). That doesn't mean AOs were all good before, in fact the 400s had their crappy AOs ("The Missing Page" or  "The Mysterious Case near the Pond") and so did the previous eras.

As I said in the "596 preview" topic, this AO wasn't half bad, sure Ran was useless, sure the motive was stupid, sure the culprit was obvious...but at least it had some kind of trick and the evidence wasn't too stupid, also Kogoro was hilarious (the new VA did a great job at the end).

The Man-Eating Turtle case is far better than anyone gives it credit for. Amongst the staff, it was second only to OVA8 in terms of in-jokes.

It was okay.

The atmosphere was good and the switching phone lines was pretty cool way to do it. Still wishing for a good mystery that leaves me guessing who is the murderer, these last two AO's have been far better than the last manga based case.

It was pretty obvious who the murderer was, but the trick was all-right for an AO.

as I've said already my opinion of AOs: being boring is far worse than being incredibly stupid.

But those cases were also really boring so ok.

I actually liked a lot of the 400s AOs. Partially because of some attempts at variety (by AO standards) but there's another reason I'll save for another time.

I agree that some very stupid AOs can be great given how stupid they are. I just rewatched the AO with the wine because I didn't remember what Ginrei mentioned...I think I have never laughed so much : "Perhaps...the true victim in this case might be...the thing whose taste was ruined when it got involved in the dirty fighting between human beings...that bottle of wine." It is said in such a serious fashion which makes it absolutely hilarious. However, it works once in a while, but when all AOs tend to be like that, it gets annoying.

The main issue I have with some of the 400s AOs is how childish they are.

To me, the culprit wasn't obvious, as they did something that they haven't done ever (I think)

Spoiler:
The fact that she cut her finger was a useless information, in almost every episode this kind of information would be useful and point to the culprit

As for the "Fearful Intersection" I didn't care about the rainbow, I was mainly interested in how the culprit made the murder. Also, in my opinion the best AOs from the 500s were "The Interrogation Room" and "Inheritance To A Foolish Person". Also liked the mystery tours.

For a minute, I thought it was going to turn out they'd worked together to kill him.

I was holding out for it to randomly be the maintenance men that did it, that woulda been awesome D:

but anyway, it was alright imo. Conan's sorta an ass for just leaving kogoro sleeping on a windowsill, though.
