Its probably because the DB would have their heads for hanging out without them. You know Ayumi..she always has to ruin an AiXCo moment . Besides when ever they are all together Ai and Conan follow behind and talk with each other so I guess that is their "alone time"

It's all Aoyama's fault will. He doesn't want to make Ai and Conan hang out together without the DB around, because if he does, it will distract many people from the main pairing. And if more people start to prefer AiCon, he'll have to change everything, which is hard after 16 years. So he's stuck with the same old love-story.

I would say it was plot related. It certainly helped to put some suspicions concerning Shinichi at ease, and it was the first true meeting of Vermouth and Shinichi in Japan.
The Detective Boys were also "there they just weren't "there"" during the Beika City Hotel confrontation.

Nani? They wasn't there at all. Haibara wasn't inside the bank but she was right outside that is what I meant.

Either way, since Countdown to Heaven , I haven't seen Haibara gets any real good role in the movies, she's simply there for one scene at most, sometimes none, I'm feeling like her whole purpose was just to pull in the Ai-chan fan base..... Thus, the new movie, I won't expect anything else I'll be greatly disappointed... maybe Ai chan will show up for like one or two scnes, and like always she'll disappear into the background while the focus will be completely on Ran D.I.D case..... the only plot I've seen since movie 1 to now, great, now I know the plot for movie 15
