The problem making her plot-relevant in the movies is, that we don't know an awful lot about her back story. The creators of the movies are probably afraid of creating plot holes. Movie 5 didn't make much sense in that regard, and if the plot was about Shiho, something would definitely go wrong.

Well, it didn't have to be plot related..  Were all movies plot related ? No they're not...

Just make Haibara to dominate the show, at least for more than half of the air time, the conclusion part may be held by conan though..

Movie 13 was and is probably not canon at all, Movie 2 & 3 basically enriched the canon(Kogoro's past and Kid finding out Conan's identity). Movie 5 was pretty nice character developmentwise, but I don't think we can consider Ai leaving messages on Akemi's answering machine canon.

A movie where Ai plays the role of Conan's Watson would be nice though (movie 11). Provides us with lots of interaction between the two. Preferably without the Shounen Tantei.

and more, then movie 12 gave me less, then movie 13.... I barely saw her....... wth???

Movie 12 was mostly about the Shinichi-Ran relationship, so she would only be a minor character. And in movie 13, they were probably afraid of butchering her backstory.

Ya, but we get a BO based film, and instead of just having her not talk about her past, they made it a police round up.

They must realize sooner or later that Conan and Ai detective duo should be utilized all the time!

The other BO members apart from Pisco didn't get too much screen time either.
It would be hard to have playful interaction between Conan and Ai in the movie, when they're up against the BO.
But the Raven Chaser was pretty disappointing.
And I'm still hoping for the seriesMeitantei Shinichi: The New Cases of Ai and Conan

It didn't have to be playful they could have tried to solve the mystery together they are great at that.

And yes! I've been wishing for a Ai and Conan spin off since forever!

Oh, i assure you.. Both Gosho and his editors.. Even all those staff from Shounen Sunday already realized the potential market for abusing this duo / pairing..

But they decided not too...
