In essence, Shinran is like science and Aicon/other relationships is like religion

one is currently concrete and definite, and the other 'could' be concrete and definite but 'unlikely'.

IMHO, and please don't kill me, Almost every AiCon fan wants Ai to be with someone, and if Conan,much better because it's the protagonist and both have suffered the APTX4869. The way I interpret this is: Almost all of you are AI FANS, not AICON FANS. So, if Ai finishes paired with Gin/Akai/grown Mitsuhiko/any other guy, for you it would be a happy ending.

I like Conan and Haibara equally. For me its either them together or them with no one. For them they are ok with her not ending up with him as long as she ends up with someone.

hmm,no sorry,we are not desesperate at that point...even if we love Ai a lot,we don't want her to be paired with a random guy just to see her with someone the only reason we Aicon fan love conanxai is because conan is the only person who has a great relationship with Ai,and we saw that it's not only friendship between them
that's why we want her to be with conan,we like the quality of their interactions,the way they complete with each other...^^ even if he wasn't the main character,we would like this couple...
and if some people like GinxSherry or AkaixSherry,it's more because of their common past,so we assume they had a relationship which was interesting (but we have to wait for Gosho to know her past in the BO... )

This post made me realize 2 things about you:
1. You're neither an Ai fan, neither a Conan fan. You're not even an AiCon fan because you obviously don't know what AiCon's about.
2. You're one of those people who only talk and do nothing. Please, since you consider yourself a real fan, show me what you've done to support AiCon as a pairing? Were you here since the first pages of this thread?

I see no harm in believing in AiXConan. They are too great of a couple for me to lose hope in.

I didn't lose hope, I never had hope to start with. Yet, I always supported AiCon. And that's why I'm a bigger fan than you'd ever be. You only support AiCon because you believe (or so you say) that it will happen. The day you'd finally see the ending with a ShinRan kiss, you'd stop supporting AiCon and move on to something else. Whereas I support AiCon not because I hope it'll happen, but because I love their actual relationship even if it doesn't end up as a love relationship. Their interaction amazes me, I love seeing them together even as friends. That's what AiCon is about, their unique relationship in the DC universe, not just a stupid romatic relationship. I love them for what they are, not for what I hope they'll be. That's the difference between a "true fan" and a "general fan" (yes, I'm using your words).

If being realistic means not having faith in something I believe in then I'd rather stay a fool forever.

Now I wonder if you guys can tell what anime I got that from...

Anyways I'm serious. I'm sure MLK Jr was called a fool. I bet people said they are 100%..no 200% sure that white people and black people can not at least have some equality among us. i'm sure a lot of people called a lot of great believers "fools" well. You're comparing being fan of a single character to being a fan of a couple?
All right, I was an Ai fan before being an AiCon fan. Why? Because when Ai made her first appearance, I instantly became her biggest fan because she was/is unique and awesome. After, when she started developing her relationship with Conan, I instantly became an AiCon fan. Does that mean I'm not an Ai fan anymore? HELL NO. And vice versa. Being an Ai fan doesn't mean you're not an AiCon fan. You can be both, and I am both an AiCon fan and an Ai fan.
Now about me liking other Ai-pairings.. here's the explanation. IF Ai can't be happy with Conan (because we all know he will end up with Ran), would I want her to be alone and sad (which is a cruel ending)? No, I'd at least want her to get a descent ending. And if this ending involves another male, then let it be. I'm not an AiCon maniac, but I'm an AiCon fan.

I have to agree with James heres. At least partly... 100% exists, when selecting a random number from a normal 6-sided dice it is 100% sure that the number will be smaller than 7.
But the ending of DC is not 100% obvious yet (for us, given the "hidden information" that only Gosho holds).
Chances are high that the end will be Shinichi x Ran. Hard to put the probability for that ending in numbers, I would say something between 95% to <100%. My guess is 95.45%.  :P
There is a chance it will end differently though.

But it would be foolish to believe that such a small remaining chance for ConAi (especially since a lot of other pairings and endings compete for the small chance of <5% for a non Shin-Ran ending) will be the actual outcome of the manga and ignore all other possible endings.

Hmm, not convinced. For me it's 100% sure that the ending will be ShinRan unless Aoyama becomes crazy.

Discussing? You think he was discussing? I thought he was accusing. He literally offended me by saying I'm not a "true" AiCon fan after all that I've done to support this pairing. And when I think of all those neutral DC fans I knew and whom I converted to AiCon fans (in both real life and internet).. Oh well.

- You are the "true" and biggest AiCon fans.
- We are nothing but normal fan(s).
And that was lame. As I already said (maybe somewhere in this thread), I'm only mean/lame/rude/whatever to the people who are mean/lame/rude/whatever to me. And that's fair.
