I also see "fitting to someone" and "loving someone" as two different stories, but Shinichi do think about other girls not romantically of cource, but he enjoys them and he thinks "How beautiful" when he meets a gorgeous women. He´s also like Kogoro looking after hot chicks (remember Sato in her hot disguise XP), if Ran would be the only girl he thinks off he wouldn´t bother looking at all. The thing with Ai, i thought he said that to tease her cause she hardly acts like a girl despite her appearance though i could be wrong.
I look at her as an angel too, it annoys me sometimes but it´s too hard to dislike her, so i stopped to do so.^g^
I would like to see her hating someone... cause the Misami you spoke, she didn´t hate, disliked, was angry or jealous at her at all. Misaka was though at Ran! She saved a killer who tried to kill he! If she would start to hate/dislike someone for dunno which reasons it would make her more human, angels don´t hate at all.
Shiho would make a good canditate for that position, she has alot of enemys why not also Ran? 8)
Sure, Ai wouldn´t die for someone she doesn´t know at all, but same goes for Shinichi. Before you all cry "you have gone nuts without your cookies" first it´s
special cookies (that´s important, you know) and second cause Conan said so himself at the case where the bomber who killed Matsuma (was that his name? i mean the cool Tagaki police officer) after Ai told him she thought he did the right thing.

If we look at who he saved so far, it was always people he knew very good or were the clients/friends/etc. of someone the worked for. Also he did all the saving cause he believed each time he´ll also survive it. An over-confident trust, but he never did something that would kill him for sure and saves anothers life. I guess he would have cut the cable to teh bomb in that case anyway even if he hadn´t solved the riddle, there was too much he lives for then that he can chose to die. Remember he solved the riddle only cause he was always thinking "please don´t let it be her school.". Ai also said it was (too) impressive to guess the right school after four letters. If it would have been another letters, if he would have seen that it wouldn´t have been her school, would he have really decided to die for strangers he never meet and go out of Rans, his parents and everyone elses life just like that without saying anything to them? Ran would have never know why Shinichi would have stopped calling her.....

Shinichi adn Ran are similar in their ideals and in what they believe in, but i assmue they would be more like Eri and Kogoro- the beauty and the pervert. XDDDDD
Shiho and Shinichi together? You know, that´s a very good reason for Ran to start hating someone for the very first time, the both also doesn´t really have to be together, she just needs to assume that they are. It would be different from the other girl at the beginning, she was angry at Shinichi and hurt, not envy and hateful towards the girl who was supposed to be his gf since she was in the same position as Ran without knowing were Shinichi was. Shiho who would be at Shinichis side would be another story.
Maybe that will happen, maybe it will never. I prefer the first. 8)

Yes, she´s the anti-heroine working for the good site for other reasons (mostly revange i guess) then the justice hero who does it for protection and for hsi ideals. She´s his counterpart in that sense.
