Kobayashi, even if she is a tertiary character, at least for me is more interesting character because in a short span of time, it was revealed that she's sharper than she looks (Conan being cautious about his suiri), she met Shiratori at a young age, at one time got really angry at him because of how she found out about Sato, and is even involved in a plot where nothing from her past is related (Courtroom Case). At the rate this is going, I'm guessing we'll be seeing more of her.
For Naeko, well, given that she's a Chiba's love interest very early in childhood, I doubt the author would just leave it there like what he did with Fusae Campbell. Given his track record for the 'childhood friends' formula, we'll be seeing something about Chiba and her in the future.
Shiho/Ai hasn't revealed enough - Akai just said it's not the time for him and her to meet yet during Vermouth Arc, in one of the tape recordings of her mother it was revealed that her mother had an important message for her (enough to change her expression to a very serious one) but hasn't been elaborated yet, and in one instance she sighed perhaps of envy at the sight of a mother coming to pick up her son. Shinichi did ask her what's wrong but she just shrugged it off and wasn't touched on again.
It's been 500 episodes already - I just feel that it's about time we find out something new about her, something other than a reminder that she was once a member of the Black Organization. I'm not asking for a tell-all, I'm just saying that the hints dropped about her are insufficient. What I want is something like... Ran cooking up Akemi's favorite dish and then the entire revolves around her personal relationship with Akemi.
1. Well, as I said revealing Haibara would be a really bad idea, hinting is was should have been done. Also the line "I feel that the mentioned tertiary characters have more memorable moments than her." is just dumb.
2. The "more interesting" argument is really empty, no mater what side you take. So the fact we learned everything in an instant and then leaving a relatively blank character after that works better? How? Getting things out the shot gun isn't very much fun. Nothing you listed is very special to any DC character, and are you actually trying to say Ai is not involved in cases that aren't BO? Yes, and that more is being referenced to and bit parts for the rest of the show that last half a minute at most.
3. He probably would, Chiba's not as important as Agasa and that was a childhood romance. Plus, what difference does she bring, she likes Beta? Oh boy, white hot intensity.
4. Again, that's a good thing, giving us everything in one shot and then just being "uh, okay done here" isn't gonna engage. Also, all the stuff you listed now and before about Ai, is a lot more than the other two combined (not even counting importance to the plot) and it leaves space to add in or let the audience guess at. In a mystery story having a mysterious characters works!
5. Ok, sure, but the examples and statements you're dropping are ridiculous. And hints dropped about her work, before Kobayashi got all that stuff, were you really asking for so long "Wow, what is she here for? This will be so cool!" No, it wasn't, hints direct you to find out rather then blurt out, and it gives something in the wait, which for a show this long and based around mysteries, is a good thing. Also, I would really rather not get into more Akemi crap.
