The only explanation I can think of is Heiji being lefty, but I don't know if he is.

It's either a translation error by scanlators or drawing error. (It's not a page flip error.) The guy in question on the next page is shown using his left hand as well. I think Heiji is a righty since no one has ever discussed otherwise since I have been here, but someone should verify that since I haven't.

It's a translation error.  In the original, Heiji says:
