You really wanna play the memory loss card again?
Yeah, I know that they did it before, but I feel this is different because it would add a unique spin on the series. Since the very beginning, Conan has always been in control. Confident, cocky and sure, he's always been a main actor in every case, figuring out what's going on before everyone else and taking preemptive and direct action to solve the case and protect those around him. He's the hero, the protector, the one in charge.
As great as that is, it would be nice to see the rug pulled out from under Conan every once in a while. Put him in a situation that he gets caught up in as much as anyone else. Make him vulnerable for a change. They did it for the briefest of time in OVA 9, and that's what made that story so great. They put him in a situation that he couldn't solve just by thinking it through. That made him weak, and by doing so, forced him to develop his character. I'd love to see more of that in Conan, over a longer story arc than just an OVA. IMHO, him forgetting about being Shinichi, forgetting about the BO and truly believing that he's just a kid would be an excellent way of doing it.
For me, Conan is kind of like Superman. Superman is invincible physically, while Conan is invincible mentally. But it starts to become a little stale if you know that no matter what happens, there's no situation that stands a chance against the hero's strength. Sometimes you need to add a little kryptonite to challenge your hero, and so far, there's been no real kryptonite equivalent for Conan.
And besides,
