Detective Conan episode 589 (The Worst Birthday (part 1)) Discussion Thread

Postby kkslider5552000 » September 26th, 2010, 11:21 am

This case so far seems good. Not great but certainly good. And a lot more entertaining than expected thanks to Yokomizo being over the top and some great facial expressions.

I don't know where the evidence should go at all. It seems like we're not gonna get enough clues until halfway through the next episode.
Spoiler: random guesses about case
But I'm going with the woman's son. Mostly because the husband's reason for killing her seems stupid right now and the son could have used her as an accomplice(the fact that they DIDN'T say anything about this with the "more than one person needed to move the bed" thing makes me think there might not be a trick with the bed.

I liked this case in the manga and they did a good job animating it. It has the old Korogo-Eri feeling (which was in cases like 114-115 and 199-200), some cool music (5'14"-5'44" and 14'07"-14'39") and very nice graphics. The dinner scene was hilarious and so was Kogoro's "whaaaaat" (4'18") which felt like Akira Kamiya's.

We need more Yokomizo cases.

I'm pretty sure you got the clues you need to solve it already.

YukiNoHana does it again!

But anyway, man Kogoro is harsh with the insults.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

YukiNoHana, I'm going to have to PM you. As much as I'd love to see the streak stay alive, this is mental.

Annnd now this topic is suddenly empty.

Aww, you deleted the part of my comment about Yokomizo's ... interesting... finger movements while he was thinking about Kogoro strip searching Eri. That makes me sad.

Everything disappeared!  What happened?  ???

Well, to get discussion going again, I have to say that I'm getting tired of Ran and Eri putting up with Kogoro being a jerk.  Sure, Eri gives it back, but still, the things he said at that dinner were totally uncalled for.  I'm sure part 2 ends with him making up for it and being backhandedly sweet, and then they go their separate ways, but it's getting a little formulaic for me, and I'm really hoping they start to move forward a bit in their story.  I mean, Sato and Takagi progressed.  Shiratori and Kobayahsi progressed (rather quickly!).  Why can't Eri and Kogoro?  Besides, it'd be nice to have Eri around more in eps.  I think she'd make for a really good main character, esp. if she starts to catch on to Conan, thus forcing him to find a way of being more discrete.

Conan IS mostly made out of 70% myseries and 30% romance.

I thought it's 90% mystery, 9% stupidity and 1% romance? :P

It was funny, but yeah, the dinner table scene was kinda just classic Eri and Kogoro, in fact to the point where I was guessing the next line perfectly before they spoke it, which is a bit of a downfall.

Yokomizo seemed way more hyper than in older cases, and I could've sworn he'd met Eri before but I guess not.

I believe my being facetious there didn't read well, apparently.

Beyond all that, Yokomizo is always (and I do mean always) good and I do like seeing Eri. What I don't like is the redundant back and forth cycle she and Kogorou have going and have had going for... over a decade.

Let me guess, despite making fun of each other at the end Kogoro will be like "Happy birthday", give the present and Eri still loves him DAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Really, this subplot makes the rest of the relationship plots seem unpredictable. That's pretty bad.

anyway, I finally figured out a part of this trick (instead of random guessing)
Spoiler:
I don't know how it fits into everything else but the model car is what caused that odd, thin blood stain pattern. The wheels to be exact. I don't see how that moved a FREAKING BED but ok.
