It's true, but he's still being indirect AND he hasn't said anything SINCE then. Shinichi needs to man up

and i did find it funny that he never figured out XXX.

Ok, well, how about this?  With Shinichi, there's also the fear that if Ran knows he likes her, he'd have to tell her he's Conan, and if he tells her he's Conan then she'll want to help him and will put herself in danger.  Do you think Heiji (in his more rational moments) is scared that if he admits to Kazuha that he likes her, that maybe she'll put herself in more danger and he'll lose her?  Maybe he's keeping quiet to keep her safe?

Nah, I think Heiji already does as much as he can to keep her out of danger by being a jerk and shunning her whenever theyre anywhere near a case. However i do think if or when there's a 'once and for all' clash with the B.O that question will become relevant

i think he protects her because internally he likes her, but i don't think he's conscious enough of his feelings to actively refain from expressing them
