I've just returned from a great three-week trip around Japan! One of the many amazing places we visited was Gosho Aoyama's hometown of Hokuei, in Tottori prefecture, which has adopted the Conan series as a theme. Here are some of the pictures I took:
A welcome sign inside the train station
Some signs outside the station
There are Conan statues all around the city
And this one bridge is especially decorated with Conan
Along the street, they have markers with manga covers
And even the utility-hole covers are decorated with Conan!
The main attraction, however, is Gosho Aoyama's Manga Factory (complete with Hakase's car sitting out front!)
Inside, the Factory is full of cool exhibits, including a huge shoe,
a voice-changing bow tie you can talk into, and a skateboard you can ride,
a rather creepy puppet show,
and the man himself... at least in picture form.
The gift shop is full of neat Conan stuff (we bought a couple puzzles to put together and display on our walls),
but I had to take a picture of the Detective Conan Tottori Cow Curry of Enchantment!
