Eh, I think people get way to worked up over it, so she's drawn a bit differently than a normal child, she's anything but normal, and drawing her slightly different is just a way to symbolize that. It's other people that sexualize her character in my opinion.

Also, I agree her old hair coloring was more natural looking.

..Ayumi's a normal child and Gosho draws her with the same figure occasionally, so I cannot see how "it's because she's Haibara" is a valid argument.

Just check out the "Conan pretends to hear a scream to dash into Ayumi's & Ai's bathroom" case where Ayumi has developed hips. ;D

LOLXD so true!!! maybe Gosho prefer to draw women rather than little girls, well he's a man so... ::)
If he likes Haibara with boobs, then he should draw shiho more frequently... ;D

For the manga I just accounted Haibara's figure to Gosho's weird proportions.  He also has a tendency to draw exaggerated folds at the hips of every character (guys included).

As to the anime, they have no excuse xD.  Drawing a ten year old character with boobs is just lazy.  I know they need to add shading but they should have figured out how to put shading on a flat person too.

Luckily for me I barely notice it anymore.
Hey, I have an idea, let's have a THIS SUCKS / NO THIS SUCKS / NO YOU / NO YOU argument for a couple pages, that will really be great. - Ingmar

So I guess this thread can be summarized as "Gosho needs more practice drawing little girls".

In other news, manga artist Gosho Aoyama was taken into police custody for questioning at an elementary school playground, where as many as 40 parents complained about him "being really creepy" and "drawing weird pictures of [their] daughters".

"I swear," Gosho is recorded as stating, "I was drawing them specifically to prove I'm not into little girls, not because I like their small, supple bodies."

It's really annoying because it's obvious that they're trying to draw her as a small woman

That's kind of what she is you know? A shrunken adult. Not to mention how Conan has had instances of an oddly muscular torso and the power to jump 3 times his size.

Besides, stuff like this in anime/manga, what else is new?

I entered this thread expecting some amazingly exciting news from GoodSmileCompany or someone.  I'm disappointed.

There are two reasons for this.

#1: It's Japan.

#2: It's anime.
