I'm still wondering why the boss favors her so much.. any theories?

Her aging issues is my guess.

Or maybe the BOSS is really old, and since the APTX worked on Vermouth, he loves her because he can finally be young again or s/t.

It's unlikely Vermouth took the APTX 4869. While it is likely Sharon is Chris is Vermouth, Sharon’s mother may also be Vermouth because she died in a fire on the day Sharon debuted. (vol 35-1 page 2) Sharon may not be Vermouth’s first alias. Vermouth would have to be 70-85 if Sharon's mom was the same person. It also likely means that APTX in its current incarnation isn’t the source of Vermouth’s apparent failure to age. Shiho’s parents and their experiments are too young to account for the timepoint. It would have to be Shiho’s grandparents or something else.
Also the Org doesn't know Shiho managed to surpass her parent's efforts and make a version of APTX that works (sort of), for them it's only a poison. Why would Vermouth take as poison?

So is Vermouth a disguised of a really really really really old lady?

It's because of his drawing style changed, and the old episodes... are, well, old, and now the color technology is better.

I think I like her older look better. She still looks pretty, no matter if it's in the old style or nowadays, but the older look is more like I pictured her when reading the manga for the first time...
