Detective Conan episodes that FAIL

Postby meidei » June 17th, 2010, 10:26 am

DC is realistic most of the time (if you exclude the APTX thing  ::)) is not immune to FAIL at times, I guess.
There should be some episodes that screw up either logic or reality. Deus ex machina and other convenient coincidence lead to disappointment as well.
Can you name some episodes that FAIL?

I, for one, never managed to follow the #348-349 episodes, although I have to admit that I watched the "Hong Kong English" subbed version which wasn't exactly easy to understand.

Some of the BO episodes unfold in weird ways. 176-178 comes to mind- even though it is one of my favorites there are some oddities in the behavior of the characters,

Also, Clash of Red&Black had the completely ridiculous "bomb goes off, then jump away" scene.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

Yeah, I can't recall any episodes directly off-hand, but I know a couple was basically like sheer luck or very weird. Maybe some of the BO cases, even though they are some of my favorite.

The episode where Sherry (Haibara turned back to Sherry) and later on Gin shoots her like 15 times or something.
But she managed to survive that. HOW? Like, I'm happy she survived it but I was so surprised.

I thought she was going to die!  :'(

Now that I think about it, and despite my love for the arc, 521-2, the culprit's plan was too reliant on a certain being there. And I'd say the episodes that relate to the time of year (not for the episode itself, but just for the timeline), as time is all slowed down or something in DC.

What do you mean?
Spoiler:
If I recall, the culprit sent a letter to Heji, asking to bring along Shinichi.. right? o.o

He intended to miss her vitals because he was torturing her to try to extract how she managed to/who helped her escape the room she was being held in.

Oh, but still... the amount of blood lost. In reality, even if all vitals were missed.
The amount of shots she took.. was pretty unbelievable.

I'm just happy she's alive.

for all we know, there may be some healing during the whole shrinking process, due to the large change in body make-up. So had she not changed back, maybe she woulda died. :O

Anyway, I'm sure there are episodes like this for me, but I can't recall them off the top of my head.

I loved that episode.

Episodes I find fail. I'm sure there are more, but right now these are the three I honestly will not watch again.

Ep. 5 The Shinkansen's Bomb Case (Anime Version only fails)
Ep. 13 The Strange Person Hunt Murder Case (See above reason)
Ep. 348-9 Love, Ghosts, and an Earthly Legacy (For making no sense)

Yeah, Gin was torturing her. So he didn't go for the vital parts.
And a smaller body needs less blood than a large body.
Also, she was treated almost immediately. So she wouldn't have lost too much. Afaik a adult body can loose blood for ~5min when the throat is cut (without stopping the blood completely, just holding your throat). And having your throat cut is one of the fastest methods to loose blood :x

So Haibara having just some shots at her limbs is more likely to survive after treatment.
