What did Haibara mean? *Possible Spoilers*

Postby conan96 » June 7th, 2010, 5:10 pm

In the stadium case where Conan is stressed and wants the clock to stop and then she comes along and says something along the lines of ''The ones that try to force the ways of time will be punished'' I never really understood that, if someone could just fill me in on it, Thanks in advance.

Presumably she is referring to something about her own work in the BO, which, given the effects of APTX-4869 may in some way relate to [s]the pandora gem[/i] some sort of long/eternal life formula. Vermouth's remark to Itakura, "We can be both god and the devil since we are trying to raise the dead against the stream of time" and Haibara's past visit to the mermaid island both seem to indicate some sort interest in changing something pretty fundamental relating to human.

That being said, I'm not a storyline buff myself and there could be something else that is implied by the statement.
Detective Movies Contest 2013: Information Thread  Current Faceoff

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

"You can’t rush things. Humans can never go against the stream of time. If man forcibly tries to change that there will be punishment" – Haibara (380.17)

If you subscribe to this theory, I think it was a reference to the anti-aging or immortality drug Haibara and her parents were trying to develop as part of the APTX 4869 project.
