About Kudo Shinichi Being a Detective

Postby Laurell » June 5th, 2010, 11:27 pm

We all know that Kudo Shinichi is a high school detective. Though he doesn't have any degree in Criminal and Justice Education, he gained the trust of the police. So would it be possible for us ordinary humans to be like him?

Additional Question:
Has anyone of you acted like a detective in real life?

Plausibly, but to be like him is highly unlikely. He is very keen and hardly overlooks anything plus his brain is like an infinite void, chock full of random trivia and knowledge. Though some are like that. And I haven't acted like a detective, though I'm okay at finding stuff, which really isn't amazing detective-like.

So, if we will have the mind like his, we will be able to? I see...

Not necessarily, there's also physical characteristics, though that's slightly more realistic than his mindset. And I doubt the police in real life would just willingly allow anyone to help solve cases like they do in DC.

Any person that insanely skilled would have no problem getting the job he wanted in that field through the normal ways.

Maybe. Who knows, one day there's someone being interviewed on TV and he/she's like "...And I wanna say Hi to Gosho Aoyama! You rock!".  ;D

For the additional question, yes. Yes, I have.  ;D It was during the "cheating" case in the school.

If you work hard and strive for your dreams! ;D
/sarcasm

But no seriously that could work. And he's been raised to be a mystery freak by Yuusaku. And Yuusaku himself too. Being the son of a world-renowned mystery writer helps in the gaining trust part too.

For the additional question, yes, I have several times.
No amount of apologies will express how much I regret it.

yeah, i think for a start Shinichi already has some things going for him. e.g. his dad is a popular mystery writer who has been consulted by the police too, he has some natural talent for observation and deductive reasoning which was also developed since he was young, and he has a memory for a whole range of knowledge. all this contributes a lot to why the police would at least entertain him a little..

added to that, he has a level of curiosity AND tenacity which is probably much higher than most people. e.g. a murder in an airplane? most of us would just stay out of the way, or at most watch the investigation without butting in. not many people dare to risk making a fool out of themselves.

i think i TRY to act like a detective all the time, though I'm not very good at it. :p but I'm learning from Shinichi and the rest to be more observant all the time!

Indeed, but also true. Coming and going at 5 or 7 AM like I do a lot this days requires a full state of alert xD

Actually for me it was a combination of DC, an Expos class, and physics that affected mine. I just love logic, which is one of the reasons Shinichi/Conan is one of my favorite characters.

okay, first of all

ziraulo, fire emblem rules.

Now moving on to the topic,

I don't really think in this time era detectives outside of Police force detectives thrive...being a Private Investigator wouldn't bring much success - it's not as romantic and noir-like as you see in movies/shows.  At the end of the day if you don't make the cash, you're not going to survive.

In this world where technology is vastly improving, you may not need a super detective like Shinichi; Shinichi's great at kind of the kooky murder cases where the culprit thinks of elaborate schemes with tape and fishing wire, vcr recordings, etc.  All in all, some thorough investigating usually gets the job done.  I can't say so myself that these strange murder cases happen frequently or not, but I assume they don't.

So to answer your question, no it probably wouldn't happen, the police I think would never a citizen meddle in crime scenes - plus no Adrian Monks or Kudo Shinichis exist in real life :/

And Yes of course I've acted like a detective in real life! I do it to my friends all the time for stupid stuff?
