Since I'm planning to do a little rewatching (Stupid pirated Conan DVDS!  >:() I decided to start this topic.
Aside from that I think it'll really help everyone in case they missed a episode or two.
I'm really surprised no one started a topic like this.....I'm probably blind  :-\.
Anyway name your favorite cases (Non - BO & Kaito Kid)

Episode 225 - The Secret of the High Sales
Why - I felt so bad for Conan --> MUST WATCH

Episode 11 - Moonlight Sonata Murder Case
Why - Probably one of the greatest/hardest DC cases of all time

You don't really have to say why. I just figured it would give other viewers an idea of what to expect.
Although it would be better if you explained why.

Episode 225 - The Secret of the High Sales
Why - I simply couldn't stop laughing. DC parodies itself.

Episode 225 would be in Volume 23 as the twenty year old murder case right?

That the one where Ran does the Titanic King of the world thing?

225 is an AO. Yes, an AO.

Bandaged Man was *the* defining case that made me love the show back when I first saw it.

so I second/third/infinity that.

Moonlight Sonata is awesome for the shock factor; I had a good idea who the killer was I never suspected... well, you know if you've seen the episode. A lot of the "classic" early episodes actually are fairly simple in terms of who did it/why- what makes them memorable are crazy things like a killer hiding heads in his stomach, someone getting decapitated on a roller coaster and the aforementioned trick.

As for the best episodes, this is the umpteenth thread on it, but it never gets old for me.

1. Desperate Revival: Stands above all other DC episodes/arcs, as it sums up all of what makes DC a great show. You have a scary DB adventure case, a great classic whodunit, fun ShinRan tension and then an intense howdunit to finish it.
2. Haido City Hotel&BO (176-178, forget the exact title): Probably the most suspenseful in terms of plot of any DC episode, though the climax of 425 is close. On rewatching, I feel like there are some inconsistencies, but the sense of fear it instills doesn't go away on rewatching.
3. Dark Contact (309-311): Similar to 176-178, great action, albeit with some inconsistencies (apparently, the BO isn't competent enough to bug the room where a crucial meeting is taking place).

4. Diplomat Murder Case (48-49): The audaciousness of the trick used in this episode is awesome.
5. Mystery of the High Sales: Amazing parody of the silliness DC so often revolves around.
6. Old Blue Castle Investigation (136-137): Good DB suspense episode with an awesome finish (also has the murderer with the highest death toll in a DC episode, though not on screen (I think)).
7. Dissonance of the Stradivarius (384-386): Just a great mystery, not much to say other than that.
8. Dracula Villa Murder (89-90): The mystery isn't so great (as one would expect from an AO), but the setting is fantastic and trick itself is quite clever.
9. Historical Actor Murder (101-102): My favorite trick of any DC episode. The howdunit that all howdunits wish they could be as good as.
10. Tottori Spider Mansion Demon (166-168): Grim, fairly complex and depressing as well. Though I must say, I found the "confusion" that led in part to the murders to be funny.
11. Hattori Heiji's Desparate Situation (323-324): Gripping suspense case, also packed with a lot of humor, most of it involving amusing situation irony.
12. Osaka 3 'K's Case: Engrish!

I have to say, I detested the Furinkazan case. It felt like a body count party more than a case; the motive for the killings was more than a little silly, as was the fight at the end.

There are some really good cases, but one of my favorites will always be Kogoro's Class Reunion.  The first episode I saw of the show was Part II.  Needless to say, I was immediately hooked.  (On a similar note, episode #3 is cool for one line in the dub:  "Have you determined the cause of death?"  "We're pretty sure it's the knife in his back, sir." That was the whole reason I even wanted to watch the show.)
