Conan's mannerisms...

Postby Xytan » April 3rd, 2010, 6:55 pm

Well I'm writing a fanfiction and I have a problem!

We all see Conan act like an adorable second-grader and smile, laugh, and be silly while talking on and on about Yaiba... But he is asked something and sort of replies "Yes" to it he makes a type of cute grunt that sounds sort of like

"Mmmm..."

Or "Uuumphmmm"

What exactly would you call that?

Un.  It's a generic "Yeah" sort of response.

Similarly, there's "uun", which is the opposite.

Think of them like "Uh huh" and "Nuh uh" or something along those lines.

you could just describe it as Kawaii response.
No clue can ever be too small to ignore.

Yeah,

The only thing I was facing was how to describe that in a story. I think though the 'non-verbal agreement sound' allows me to change a few things around to fit the meaning.

I feel like quoting this for emphasis.

The problem is when you're writing something in English (or any other language, for that matter) and throwing in words of other languages, romaji or not.

I do that a lot while i talk in Spanish, there's some words that are shorter in English and fits better in the phrase, for example: team instead of "equipo" (Team = Equipo in Spanish)
