And to add on to that, everytime he writes something for Conan, he must think of his ex-wife 0_0..man does his life suck.

Goes over her head you mentioned. I meant she is not impressed by his showing off. She might even have no idea about the how and why. But because she has a crust on Conan, it does not matter. She think everything he says whether or not, she understands it, is pure golden.

Completely wrong. She is impressed by his "showing off". It is not just because of her feelings for Conan.
Because if it was, then Mitsuhiko and Genta should be left cold by whatever Conan says. But they are now. Just like Ayumi they are impressed by his intelligence - and seem to enjoy learning new things by having Conan explain those things to them.
The children have quite a good grasp of what Conan is talking. The only thing they fail to realize is that no normal child is supposed to know that much - to them Conan simply is "smart".

Also another reason is she is a normal seven year old kid. Anything above her grade level she would not understand.

Lots of things the Detective Boys "know" is already way above what a normal 1st grader would know. This can be seen on Mitsuhiko most, but also the other two are able to make conclusions that would be impossible for a normal 1st grader.

Why should it be so hard to imagine what a 7 year old girl would say? I guess he has no children himself, but making up a childs behavior should not be that hard. I mean... all he has to consider is that "Ayumi talks cute and refers to herself in third person regularly".
It must be much harder to make lines for sarcastic/pessimistic characters.

Well, fanfics are not canon by default.
Still, I agree that reading them is so great. I also read them when I find one. Even if it is badly written.

A lot of mangaka like to observe people on the streets. That's probably how he gets lines for Ayumi.

It is also likely that he wanted to make the 3 Detective Boys talk different. As far as I know, Mitsuhiko talks quite formal, Genta more informal while Ayumi talks... well, she talks "cute". So all he has to keep in mind: "When Ayumi talks, it must be cute"
Though, if he does it too much it also restricts her character a bit. Which is probably one of the reasons why it is so hard to see character progression with her or the other Detectice Boys.
