Dus wrote:She definitely suffers from depressions (Movie 5) and is ashamed of her past. This is actually part of her character development when she first appeared she was quite self-righteous and only showed feelings where her sister was concerned. The more she falls in love with Conan, the more she questions her past beliefs, her past role in the BO. As a result, she completely clams up about her past and is getting more melancholic, sad, cynical, and even depressed.
Now show me any psychological implications in Ran's character. There aren't all that many...
Well...Ran starts off as a normal high school girl with a detective childhood friend. She pretty much enjoys life. After Shinichi disappears, she sometimes goes into a state of depression (if you consider her crying a sign of depression; don't know the exact word to describe this) because she misses Shinichi a lot and she has no way of knowing where he is at or he is safe. For all she knows, he is tangled up in a complicated case. Also at first, she is hesitated to tell Shinichi her feelings. In the Dark Knight arc, even though they're at a restaurant and it seems like Shinichi is about to confess, she doesn't get it and just let it slips. But recently in the Shiragami case, she has the urge to tell him his feelings that she asked Shinichi don't go. That shows her character development from being an extremely shy girl to a person who has the courage to confess, or rather, ready to confess.
At the beginning, Ran doesn't really like cases and she doesn't show any actions in solving the case. During the teacher murdered two other teachers case, she only became a detective because Shinichi said that if she doesn't want to do it, then he would tell the reporter himself. In the Kazuha V.S. Heiji deduction showdown, Ran becomes more active in solving mysteries (Although one can argue it is because she wants Kazuha to win). But in the convenience store case, she tries to solve the case and only tells Shinichi what happens when Shinichi happens to call her. She does lose some confidence after telling Shinichi what she thinks, but at his urging, she actually explain her deductions to everyone, even though she doesn't know if she's right or wrong. I don't remember if there's any recent case that shows her being more active. But that's what I have so far.
I didn't include any movies because I don't know if they really count. But if you want me to include the movies, I can do that.
