Case Closed subed only for more seasons

Price doesn't matter much to me, as I usually have one source with good deals. Instead of paying the full $250 ($50 each) for the five seasons already out, I only ended up paying $150 ($30 each).

me two also lets face the reason why funimation would this if ever is that the dubbing is to expensive and they need to either cut major cost in the series to keep it going or they woulf have to stop doing it, because case closed is not that profitable I think. also I like the D gray man dub, I LOVE lenalee, kamoui, and lavi VA's, I like allen, and pretty much everyone but kurei (I misspelled that), and I already dislike kandai so I think his VA is prefect

Yeah, kkslider's right. It was dubbed by Viz and has a great dub.  One Piece did have a shitty dub/script/overall adaption as well, but those days are over; Funi's doing a great job with it.

Another problem I have with Dub's in general and I might have said this before Is that they take a show and seemly add all kinds of likely not in the script background comments. These comments sound to me anyway like they should not be part of the scene. They sound very "corny" Sometime it get so bad I mute the section and wait a few minutes before removing the mute.

Get the Funimation channel... They still make pretty bad dubs. Given they aren't AS bad as they used to be, but still pretty bad. Given they get some characters right, and some songs, but rarely, if ever all. Example: Kenichi HSD, they actually did alright... until Apachai opened his mouth... God damn they got the wrong VA.... His voice SEEMINGLY matches his body, but not his personality or the original VA.

The last good dub by Funi IMO is Beck MCS. Most of their other dubs are fair at best. There are very few really good dubs, and even fewer that would be considered perfect or possibly even better than the original. Then we have a company like 4kids which ritualistically sets out to destroy the anime they buy.

To break down the quality of dubs by company...

Geneon and Bandai are the best of the best. I recall watching many a great anime dub released by them. Trigun, Lupin III, Outlaw Star, and Cowboy Bebop were done by one of those two companies. It is a shame that Geneon seems to have dropped the anime dubbing business... Bandai still does good work it seems though.

Funimation is often hit and miss with their dubs, sometimes they get it right, and other times they get it horribly wrong. Given, they are getting better.... But usually they tend to mess up with at least one character in a series. And they usually fail at dubbing songs. But honestly... I don't think you can easily dub a Japanese song into English well. The way the two languages flow are completely different, and flow in music is key. They do get some songs right, but usually the translation isn't perfect as it would be if it was subbed instead of dubbed [see Bandai's God Knows from Haruhi]

4kids.... Horrible.... just horrible.... Every anime they release in dub is cringe inducing... I don't recall even seeing one episode of an anime they dubbed without being completely disgusted. Then again... their target demographic probably allows them to do that

Viz seems to be good, though I don't think I have seen enough of their work to make a fair decision. Same goes with Manga Entertainment.

And I just realized this.... but the two companies that are [or were ] the best at dubbing, both have their HQs in Japan.... Coincidence? I THINK NOT



Back to the topic at hand... They need to put the dub on... That is their job. There are many people who only know the dub, or refuse to read subs. So if they make it only sub on DVD their releases would be much faster, but their sales would take a nose dive. Honestly... I don't think that America is a good venue for Detective Conan. We need a good mystery show for families [most mystery shows are really not suitable for kids which is a pity], but DC is too set in Japanese references for the average American viewer/reader. If they made a Detective Conan like show with only Western references, I would guarantee it would fair much better. It would also help if it wasn't aired late night and was prime time like Detective Conan is in Japan

I have enjoyed the dub of every dub I've seen at least an episode of on the Funi channel. That includes Case Closed, Black Cat, Moon Phase, Mushi-shi, School Rumble, NINJA NONSENSE, Tsubasa, XXXholic, Peach Girl etc. Of course I hate a couple of these anime but they're at least good dub-wise.

The thing wrong with your comment Kyuu is that Bandai has pretty much stopped dubbing anything. Occasionally you'll see one or two, but lately they've been going the sub only route, same with ADV, which I'm surprised you left out.  And lately Bandai's dubs haven't been too great.  Bandai realized that Bang Zoom (pretty sure that's the studio) has done very well so they've been dubbing almost all of their dubbed anime through them, which is causing an over use of certain voice actors like Johnny Young Bosch in almost every major role, causing me to just get sick of his voice in a lot his more recent (past 2-3 years) roles. And their dubs have just been subpar overall lately.

Viz is pretty good at dubbing when they want to be.  Their big sellers, Naruto and Bleach, both have excellent dubs (even with Bosch in the lead in Bleach).  But their lesser sellers... kinda don't fare too well.  The Hunter X Hunter dub seems to have very few fans right now.  The Monster dub isn't bad, kinda in the middle of their greatest sellers and lowest sales releases.

But admitingly, most of FUNi's dub are pretty well done. Some seem more like a rush job, but those are more in the minority.

And can we please stop dissing 4kids? They pretty much stopped dubbing anime altogether and are close to dying.  Sure, they were bad in the past, but besides Yu-gi-oh 5Ds (which they recently stopped airing actually), they pretty much stopped all anime stuff.

ok now back on topic, it seems that a lot of people want to get rid of the dub, then there is a group of people if it gets us more seasons then I guess we need to go sub only. and there is a final group that is saying no way.
