i found the movie great!
not as great as expected but GREAT!
the middle was kinda dragging but the ending paid off
how can the helicopter climax be one of the worst in the series?

Well, finally watched the movie and it's going on my favorites list.  It's been a while since I've enjoyed a DC movie.  I think the last DC movie I liked was the Detective Requiem one.  I really liked this one, though, and it's probably because it was so BO heavy.   I like how almost all the characters were used in some way, but it wasn't overbearing.

It had a nice balance, and I don't get how anyone could say that Ran had a Damsel in Distress role when....

she went up to try to fight off Irish. She wasn't in a situation where she was completely unable to defend herself.  The only thing I found off was the fact that Irish did manage to knock her out because she lost her concentration briefly after his mask ripped.  She knew he was a fake...why would that surprise her?  I guess it had to be set up that way so that it'd be Conan vs BO

Hmm, I liked the Beatles reference and how the kids didn't even know who the Beatles were and Agasa's reaction to it.

Oh, I love the idea of...

someone actually being clever enough to figure out Conan's identity in the way Irish did.  I know it's not canon, but that is something to think about and maybe Gosho might use it down the road.

Now, there are two things I did have a literal problem with.  I'm sure a couple of people mentioned it already.

I had a problem with the beetle thing and the fact that seemingly nothing was being done about the helicopter Gin and the others were in, shooting at Tokyo Tower.

I had a problem with the beetle's wings being tied up, oh, and it actually reminded me of that case with the paper airplanes, but never mind.  Anyway, how in the world did the superintendent do it if he was tied up?  Was he locked in and only knocked out and tied up that final day?  How in the world did he figure that someone would understand that the "V" stood for the number "5" and that it was the Beatles' fifth album, "HELP!"  Of course this isn't just a movie problem, it's a problem with the series in general.  Some clues are just too obscure for the average character (in the series) to get.

As for the helicopter, it's obvious.  A helicopter like that at such a place during a holiday event should've drawn a whole lot of attention.  Where was the police (aside from the ones there)?  Why weren't other authorities being called, especially when the shooting started!  Geez.  I just found that completely hard to believe.

Okay, that's about all I can think of to say.  I'd rank this movie a 9.5/10, and the main reason it doesn't get a 10 is because Ai didn't get to do much, which disappointed me since this was a BO movie.  I was expecting her to play more of a role.  Either way, this movie was much better than last few movies.  As I mentioned earlier, I liked movie 10.  Found movies 11 and 12 mediocre/boring.

Anywho, I hope that this movie might give Gosho some ideas for the manga when it comes to the BO.

I loved Ran's fighting scene~ And I understand why she would be surprised by the mask coming off...I mean, that was creepy...O_o Seriously, and the faces Irish made after it ripped...they were creepy....

And then...one thing makes me curious...

Suppose the guys in the helicopter died...wouldn't Conan be a murderer then? He did make it crash...but...it was self-defense, right? I mean, he was about to get shot to death! O_o Even though I highly doubt they died...that'd ruin the whole series.

Any out of characterness was not terribly noticeable outside of maybe Gin (but I can't exactly explain why I thought he was out of character). The officers and inspectors interacting was amazing. Yamamoto and the older Yokomizo contiued to be comic relief Kogoro fans, Yamato didn't like Yamamoto at all. BETTER YET YAMATO AND HIS AWESOME CRUTCH OF BADASSNESS. I hope we see him in the anime again, he's maybe the best non-plot related, not dead, new character since like the 100s.

Also, the short scene with Heiji and Kazuha was great. Heiji almost fell out of a window. XD

The amount of continuity was amazing. The CELL PHONE ARC was actually relevent again. The scar case was subtly referenced, Pisco was pretty much seen as a mentor for Irish (and the way Conan tricked him with the flashlight watch reminded me of how Pisco was tricked with the voice changing bowtie, coincidence or good foreshadowing?), The Dark Knight from Desperate Revival, NOC, I believe they even referenced where the older Yokomizo was originally when Kogoro first met him.

I also liked how I didn't feel like the advertising for the movie was A COMPLETE LIE, like movie 5. The way the movie went didn't feel it had ADD and MOSTLY didn't seem like it went from one part of the plot to another at random and idiotic times, again, like movie 5.

The movie also did so much repairing for the characters. Mainly Ran and our favorite BO snipers. Ran got to kick ass against a Black Org. member who was disguised as the (presumably) really powerful Matsumoto and generally felt less pointless than usual (and they didn't overdo the obligatory Shinichi X Ran stuff, which is good as I was worried after Magic File 3). Korn and Chianti actually succeeded at something. They're clearly awesome (as assassins) but I can't remember them actually succeeding at anything they did. They murdered Irish in a couple of shots. Irish, who by the way, knocked out over half a dozen officers by himself, presumably without even being caught. And as ridiculous as the ending was, Gin, Vodka, Korn and Chianti are all awesome enough to escape an exploding helicopter in only a dozen or so seconds without anyone noticing. The Matsumoto thing surprised me because, despite thinking it was probably him (well either him or that new woman Inspector or Takagi), I didn't think they would actually do that. Because Irish, who btw was killed by clearly superior BO members in like 2 shots, was able to kidnap MATSU FN MOTO without Matsumoto seeing his face or anyone knowing for 10 days (Matsumoto is pretty awesome for surviving those 10 days btw). Also, it was nice to see more direct interaction between Conan and BO. Although, despite how awesome it was and how much he made sense in some ways, something felt wrong about Vermouth and Conan talking.

So while Conan is still clearly better than everyone (he is really the luckiest deus ex machina character ever) Conan > BO > ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING ELSE (assuming Yusaku doesn't interfere too much with the plot, of course)

So why are people complaining again?

It's only behind movie 2 and 6 as my favorite. 9/10.

It wasn't as amazing as I would have liked it to be, but then again I can't really expect 2 hours straight of BOness

and I don't particularly see the problem with the helicopter thing being over the top. Yeah, they could have sent police, but what would police do against a heavily-armed helicopter? It would take time to get another helicopter there, not to mention a military helicopter would probably be farther away and take even longer.

And it's still perfectly (well, mostly) in character for the BO to do something like shooting the tower with a helicopter, their aim isn't to not be seen, it's to not be found. If the police see a helicopter shooting at the tower, but then they can't find any evidence to find out who it belongs to, the BO is still fine.

Also, I'm sorta surprised that nothing happened with that gray-haired woman that was at the police conferences.

maybe it's just me, but more often than not it seems like whenever there's someone suspicious that isn't called out as a culprit, when the culprit turns out to be someone else, that person pops up and says something about "oh I was being suspicious for X reason lolllolololo", but maybe I just take note of that more

I watched the first half on Megavideo. I was gonna watch another Megavideo thing (not to watch it but to reach the 72 minute time limit so that I can get another 72 minutes later) and I swear, the SECOND I started it, it said that since I watched 55 minutes of video, I had to wait 54 minutes.

I forget which person had the charm, but yeah it was in that.  In fact, during the QC, as soon as it was brought up that one of the victims was a member of the Black Org, I figured it had to be the person with the charm.  Based on Kazuha hiding pieces of their chain in their charms, it just clicked.

Oh, and Irish takes it out of the charm later on, for proof.
