Thanks for this, Chekhov and Fujiwara.
My input: When I talked about "extensive research" back in the other thread, I was mostly looking for this "fanbook" everyone's talking about, and this is the conclusion of what I currently know (of course take what I say with a grain of salt lol, but hopefully it will provide some background information before anyone else wants to take a stab at it. I'll also include my sources so anyone could correct my mistakes easier, if any):
I've been running around Amazon checking out the the fanbook in concern, "Love Conan," since I know very little about it.
As far as I can find, there are 5 books under the name Love Conan, the first 2 of the following listed are edited by the キャラデパmia編集部 (KyaraDepa mia editorial dept. KyaraDepa could be short for Character Department.) I'm not sure about the latter three.
The first one is Rabu=Conan --- Meitantei Conan Official Fanbook for Girls (Wonder Life Special) (Mook) (2004/03)
(The Japanese made the word Mook through combining the words Magazine and Book.)
As the name suggests, its target audience is girls.
Three 5☆ reviews, one 4☆ and one 1☆.
Content of the book seems to include (according to one review) Rankings, Intro to Character and Goods, Love stories, and goods-ordering list etc.
The one-star talks about how cringy this book is, only talks about romance aspects of DC and ignores the interesting parts.
One of the five-star reviews talks about Aoyama sensei denying Conan x Haibara and wants to read the rest of the Rabu Conan series (I will come back to this later)
One five-star review mentions there is a 4-page interview with Aoyama sensei at the end. The title of the interview seems to be "Please tell us! Aoyama sensei
" according to another review, and also a Wikipedia source.

(Source #30 at time of writing)
I'll keep the other 4 in spoiler tags because I don't think they're that important. Tl;dr summary: Rabu Conan has 2 official DC movie guides I can find on Amazon.
About キャラデパmia編集部 (KyaraDepa mia editorial dept)
- Mainly magazines that do mail-order goods for various characters.http://search.rakuten.co.jp/search/mall ... 0-st.O-v.3
According to this Yahoo question: http://detail.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/qa ... 3101534043
The asker asks, in which issue of Rabu Conan page 77 does Kurosawa Jin appear. He also says there are "many" issues, so he doesn't know which one.
(Note: I wonder if this increases the credibility on the Rabu Conan magazines?)
The reply to the question says they have the 2004 issue, so I suppose they do DC mag at least once a year. The reply says, in the 2004 issue, page 77 does mention the name Kurosawa Jin. But there is no mention about whether being a code name or real name. However! Aoyama does admit to the name being Gin's "urasettei" (Eng: behind-the-scene character setting.) The Anokataxxx website says the same thing as well.
- Last update was 2012-12-31
- Under the second tab in the left panel, there is a collection of 2ch threads pertaining Anokata's real identity. The latest thread is created on 2012-12-28, last post (#981) 2013-05-29, so it's pretty up to date as far as that is concerned. The 'owner' of the is anokata.xxxxxxxx.jp (they keep a copy because you need to pay on 2ch to read old threads.)
Edit: I totally didn't see the translation post two posts before this @[email protected]
so I've deleted my version since that's accurate.
Hope this provides enough insight for better judgement with regards to the fanbook "Love Conan." If the interview does appear in the 2004 issue, then I highly doubt they would get away with making up a random interview with Aoyama sensei lol.
I'm actually not too concerned about their real names, but the implication behind their appearance on the Mermaid island. To have Gin and Sherry appearing at such a random place that has an fantastical backstory makes me wonder about the Org's motives. And the possibility of the BO boss appearing on scene (Ooguro Rentarou??) But one other possibility is that, Gin and Sherry are here to come in contact (for whatever reason) with the big guns in the top-most social class, and doesn't necessarily mean BO boss is there.
T/L Note: Urasettei = behind-the-scene setting. Usually refers to the unreleased materials that is canon with the plot.
