Differences between manga and anime thread

Second, when canon episodes are changed, filler episodes make even more changes within story and character development. That's why some characters appear to act differently in the manga than they do in the anime, and sometimes in the anime, some charavters do out-of-character things....

It really bugs me just how squeamish the animators are about blood. In the 1st episode with the beheading, i watched it for the first time after I had reread that volume a couple times, and when I saw the "blood" shooting out of the guys neck, after a moment of shock I started  laughing and couldn't stop for like, five minutes!

Also, recently I finished reading the series Black Cat, which is basically a series about assassins and the like, which, in the manga, includes two severed arms, a guy being cut in half, the top of a guys head being sliced off so cleanly that it just slides right off, and possibly a decapitation or two. Not to mention a couple dozen murders. In the anime, they cut out all of the things I just mentioned, not to mention at least 80% of the fights and blood, including the nearly every fight that occurs in the last couple volumes of the manga and the final fight where the protagonist is nearly killed and... just... GAH! I mean really! If you don't want to include fighting, severed limbs, and killing, then don't make an anime about an assassin!  Okay sorry about the rant...

To be fair, the Black Cat manga is like 180+ chapters.  The anime was 26, and 4 of those were anime original (and awful).  So 22 episodes that covered the entire series, for the most part, without feeling rushed is pretty good.

That is the problem with AO >:(, this episodes, some times, create situations that have to be explain in the manga based episodes.

how the hell is that a problem? If anything, it makes the AOs feel less terrible and useless.

Ran was still suspicious after the old photograph incident in volume 14. There's a recap of some of the evidence for this when Conan is recuperating in the hospital trying to decide whether to confess, especially during his conversation with Heiji. (From the panel shown when he tells Heiji that there were a lot of signs that she was suspicious, left to right, top to bottom:

• {1.} volume 14, Ran's smile that Yukiko warned Conan was strange (probably... could also be the smile she had after seeing Kaito while walking with Conan in volume 16)
• {2.} volume 21, Ran pointing out that Conan never talks about school after she hears about Haibara for the first time
• {3.} volume 16, Ran giving Conan a look after he said she couldn't have possibly seen Shin'ichi earlier that day
• {4.} volume 22, Ran getting Conan to agree that Shin'ichi isn't interested in stuff like close up pictures of her rear in a bikini
• {5.} volume 15, Ran crying on Conan's shoulder after being used to accuse her favorite primary school teacher of murder.

Relevance for this thread is that the anime messed up this whole sub-plot. Point 2 never happened in the anime, points 3 and 5 were shown before Ran saw the old photograph that made her suspicious again, and probably because of those changes these recaps weren't even shown during Conan's conversation with Heiji in the anime.

So, how did Ran go from dragging Conan off to bed in a previous filler case to certain enough about his identity to offer him a transfusion in the anime continuity? My theory is that Ran figured it out when she regained her memories in movie 4, but played dumb (movie 4 first hit theaters just before the Desperate Revival arc, so it fits... apart from the whole movie-continuity-isn't-even-mentioned-in-the-TV-anime thing).

In the anime: She moves her whole body towards Jodie/the sprinkler. Since her brooch was a camera, Gin, Vodka and Vermouth would have seen Jodie and the sprinkler then...

In the anime: James want's to call Jodie too. But Akai stops him grabbing his cellphone.
Why is that a mistake? If Akai grabbed James cellphone, then he would have left his fingerprints on it. So the FBI wouldn't need Conans (a civilian) cellphone to match the fingerprints with the "dead Akai"

[Chekhov MacGuffin]

While re-editing the Reunion with the Black Org chapters (V24:7-11) (eps 176-178), I noticed a few differences beyond the usual Gin and Haibara's hair colors are messed up, anime adds some detail, etc.

(V24-8) (ep 176) Starting with an incredibly minor detail: it was windy in the manga when Vodka was scanning the car for more tracking devices and Gin was calling Pisco. It wasn't in the anime version.

(V24-8) (ep 176) When Haibara was thinking of her dream about Gin in the party room right before Conan gives her his glasses, in the manga version, Gin's body and face are spattered with blood from killing Conan and the other kids. The anime version lacks the bloody spatter.

(V24-10) (ep 177) The anime version omits the brief scene where the seven suspects with purple handkerchiefs are being called for questioning individually by Megure. In this scene, Vermouth is looking out the window, presumably for Gin and Vodka who are going to be arriving very soon.

(V24-10) (ep 177) Conan's diagram of the locations of the seven suspects in the party room is different in the anime.

(V24-10) (ep 177) When Gin and Vodka storm the wine storage room, Vodka shoots the lock out with a silenced handgun. The anime omits the gun firing part.

(V24-10) (ep 178) When Shiho is in the chimney, in the manga panel she isn't shrouded in shadow, while the anime version is very dark.

(V24-10) (ep 178) In the picture which shows Pisco aiming at the chandelier, it's almost impossible to see the figure taking aim in the anime. In the manga, it is quite clear although you can't tell who it is.

(V24-11) (ep 178) When Vodka fires at Conan who has just tranqed Gin, he is a better marksman in the manga than in the anime. In the manga he aims at adult chest height and hits the frame of the door on either side. In the anime, he shoots the door frame at an adult's waist height once, but then hits the wall twice at waist and then knee height... fail.

(V24-11) (ep 178) When Conan reveals that Pisco is a moron for smoking while standing around vaporizing everclear, in the manga, Pisco is physically standing in the puddle he created, and the vapor and the puddle on the floor ignites before he drops the cigarette. In the anime, he is standing a good meter or two away from the puddle and drops his cigarette which is magnetically attracted to the puddle which only then sets the rest of it alight...
