German Publisher Egmont Manga Launches Detektiv Conan WEEKLY

Post by Valentin »

German publisher Egmont Manga has announced the launch of Detektiv Conan WEEKLY, offering full translations of the latest manga chapters just one day after their release in Japan for €0.99 apiece. File 1009 and File 1010 will be available for purchase as soon as next Thursday.

Here’s the official statement, brought to you by Google Translate:
Egmont Manga wrote:A milestone in German manga history!

The dilemma is known to most manga readers: Often it takes a long time before the Japanese original – whose individual chapters are usually published in regular magazines – becomes a German manga. That’s enough of that! In cooperation with Shogakukan, the publisher behind Gosho Aoyama’s mega-bestseller Detective Conan, we are starting the unique project Detektiv Conan WEEKLY from April 19, 2018 onwards.

The name says it all: Every Thursday we publish the latest, freshly translated chapter of Detective Conan as eManga – just one day after the release of the Japanese original! Do not wait any longer, but enjoy with the Japanese fans the brand new adventures of the little master detective! A true milestone in German manga history!

The Detektiv Conan WEEKLIES will be available wherever Egmont Manga eBooks are available (Amazon, iTunes, GoogleBooks and Kobo) – for just €0.99 per chapter!
I think this is pretty remarkable. Even if only a few of us know the language, we—if nothing else—gain another source to consult in case of doubt, and it’s professionally handled.

That's great and a smart and easy way for the publishers, both Japanese and German, to make some extra money.

If such an entity really existed, wouldn't all honest, hard-working people be happy?"
