actually i've been wondering too if aoyama-sensei will choose between ran and ai [i'll use this name 'cause we all know that there's a bigger chance that she doesn't change back] for shinichi. as soragirl said, there have been many many fans who have told aoyama-sensei about their views on who to choose.. and i think he's always wanted to give what we want and what he thinks is best at the same time.

but yeah, like the others, i can't imagine shinichi and ai in the final page of the manga with ran sobbing OR not at all in the background. which i can't stand.

on this forum i've noticed that most are aiXconan or shihoXshinichi, but as for the shinichiXran fans, i know that they don't proclaim it anymore because it's obvious. i for one do that.

Do anything about it? It´s not like I hate the series and cry myself to sleep because it´s so freaking bad. *facepalm*
I´m not "whining" about something, I just state that there are indeed things I don´t found absolutely super awesooome.
As far as I´m concerned, a disscusion forum is all about discussing your opinion.
Writing a letter to the author never even occured to be- because I just don´t bother. He can write what he wants.
My life doesn´t resolves that much around DC that everything bad in it is so bothering me that I must convince Aoyama to change it or must write a fanfiction because otherwise I could not take it.

PS: People who say GTFO to everyone who dares to say that there is something *not that good* about a manga, piss me off.

Friends, of course there will be people who dont like ran( I dont know why but of course there has to be some reasons).
We cant discuss this theme. But when someone says "she is a ...so you are a... , too" or something like that, this makes me angry. Because I respect all the opinions, which you have. Lets finish this duscussion okay

I don't like to argue. If I have an opinion, I'll explain why I feel the way I do if you ask me why or if the moment calls for it. I don't care if anyone thinks differently. I'm interested in what people think and why, but hopefully it is a logical reason....I also hate when people say "I hate...and you're..." too, and I also am annoyed by "I like....because....looks good with...." especially in a character debate NOT a couple thread. Now because this is a couple thread, it's the right time. But when people ask whats your favorite character?....it's different. But I think that when you watch something you will have an opinion and it's best to talk about it with other fans....

I voted Ai/Conan Shinichi/Shiho Coai or ShinShiho....that's that

Ran didn't have to save Haibara's life. If she wasn't there at all it wouldn't have made any difference. She was just simply doing what she might end up doing best: interfering. And trust me she has saved lives only to put herself in more danger and put Shinchi in a more worried state than he already was in. Thats because she can't do anything except interfere. Because her character was developed to be the lover. Simple. She's just a love sick girl who happens to sometimes end up in the middle of crap. She's as useless as Sonoko who could very well save someone's life if she wanted to. Heck anyone could save anyone's life. But Ran's role (not a cop, not a doctor, not a BO member, not a detective doesn't even solve cases with Shinchi on a regular basis, which even the DBs managed to do) she is just there to be Shinchi's lover. Everyone on the show is put there in some way to support the main character. But they each have something that separates them as individuals. She doesn't have any other tie to the story except the fact that well....she's the lover.....Anybody can Kick someone but her skills in karate aren't very useful as she always manages to pass out or miss. 

Are you trolling? You think Sonoko could kick through doors and drag people out of burning buildings? Or smash through car windows? Heck, Ran's even saved the "hero" by herself at least twice with her karate, and was certainly not just standing around, passing out, or missing hits during her fights alongside Kyogoku. "Always" isn't just hyperbole when "usually" doesn't even fit, it's just nonsense.

It would be reasonable to say she's superfluous to the story if she were just there to call the cops or to draw out exposition/explanation about the mystery, that is stuff that's truly interchangeable with any character. It's true that's just what she does in quite a few of the stories, but it's true for everyone who isn't Conan, even Haibara, and there are plenty of instances where she's done more than that.

Even the main plot would be very different without Ran around. Who would keep Conan involved with Teitan high? Sonoko? Why would Sonoko even associate with him without Ran? That's a pretty important role in the overarching continuity considering how Vermouth and Jodie infiltrated the school. Sure, it could've been contrived so Jodie wasn't a high school teacher or something, but you could handwave any element of any story as "unimportant" if you argue like that. Without Desperate Revival or Chinatown Deja Vu Detective Conan would have a very different storyline, and without Ran those situations would either not have come up in the first place, or certainly would have progressed differently. Even for Halloween Party I doubt Shuuichi could've neutralized Calvados and arrived in time to save Haibara without Ran's distraction, but there {is} probably room for argument there.

Genta is there because Gosho wanted a 6 year old love triangle and because Genta makes every other character seem that much more 3 dimensional by comparison.
