That's REALLY amazing. I was actually laughing at that part in the movie since I thought that they were stretching it too far. Looks like what they did had some basis after all. O.o

Impressing. But the scene is still over the top for me. The football player on the video is much closer to the phone (not to mention he's an adult), and the two women are next to the phone, whereas Conan and the girl were further away from it. Nice to see the trick could work though.

Shouldn't she hang up the phone ? The police operator must have been thrilled.

But this was to demonstrate that the tones/pitches can actually cause the phone to dial itself, not the fact that he hit it the receiver off by kicking a football at it. >_>

Nonsense. It's obvious that singing the tones would work as that's how touch tone phones work. Back in the day commercials would play the tones so that little kids only had to hold the phone up to the TV to initiate a call which would order something, charging their parents phone bill. (Or that's an urban legend, but should root the plausibility of dialing a phone that way.) So all that leaves as being unbelievable is hitting a phone off the hook with a soccer ball.

Nonsense? Demonstrating the phone/singing is clearly what the video is focusing on.

Also, I never knew it was obvious that singing the tones would work, but that's just me.

Why is that unbelievable? It totally possible. There is a risk to not hit it or not hit the phone properly so that the phone falls off. But it's possible (and Conan is shown as a good or even very good soccer player).

If it would only be Conan, I would also say it's over the top.
But he's with that woman (forgot the name XD) who is a professional singer and even singing in concert halls. So she has the lungs and the power to reach the phone with her voice without problems.
