Well, since they're now putting this on Crunchyroll, I figured it makes sense to make this thread. However, I'm not actually caught up on recent cases yet but I figure I might as well make this now instead of way later when it's already done. Gives people a place to discuss it regardless. I'll add to the thread eventually. But for now, just discuss whatever relevant to the case.

One of the best setups in years (both the case and the thread... ).

I've missed the Nagano officers. Definitely one of the best cases so far.

Seriously ?? 3 episodes for yet another stuck in the woods with creepy stalker lurking story ??
This was dire, tiresome repeating 'joke' about Sera's gender, the 'trick' with the tomatoes was awful.
It's about time they got back to Conan and stopped padding out the stories with lame characters.
There was more character development and story movement in the 'Sniper' movie than in the last 20 episodes of the series.
I love my cute Conan being his smart-ass self, more of him less of the dross please.
It's also getting stupid with the disguises thing, 100% mimicking of other characters [even gender changing] at the drop of a hat !! Please !!!
Only thing that's keeping me watching is Haibara Ai, best line of the 'Sniper' movie was the last, "You're hands are not moving" .. Way to go Haibara
It's also about time Conan got to grips with the 'Black Organisation', had Gin worried in 'The Raven Hunter', this needs following up.
It's a series, so has fillers and such, accept that, love the odd 'Detective Boys' episodes, but I hope they are not going to repeat this 3 part episode type dross.
I've watched every episode so far, and it's been a brilliant journey, let's hope it keeps sailing on and doesn't peter out and just fade away.
All the best to you fans

Now I can watch the beginning of the Crunchyroll era.
-Ok, how many coincidentally red focused things happen in the Bourbon arc? I feel this is like the 4th case to do this. Sonoko saying "Akai" that should've been the most ridiculous coincidence but based on how often this happens, maybe not.
-Why would your first assumption be that he goes around attacking bears with a bat? :p
-I really want this red woman to be bandaged man's sister. That would be the best idea.
-Filling the bath with tomatoes. You know, anywhere else this would actually be funny just for sheer wtfness.
-Oh thank god they didn't show that nosebleed scene until after that. It would've been only funny in how much it ruins the mood. XD
-Honestly the funniest thing is that I'm certain Minami Takayama voiced this part by holding her nose.
-"I stole this tomato from the crime scene."
-So what Sera means is that she wanted to see Kaito Kid? :p
-A reminder that Yamato and Yui have a childhood romance thing going on, and it isn't actively annoying because it isn't focused on as the only "interesting" thing about it and is instead mostly an afterthought because real romance would be dumb (or at least dumber) if you used "I KNEW THIS PERSON WHEN I WAS A KID" as a basis on anything and have I mentioned the Chiba love story is still awful?
For a while, I was really disappointed by this case. Outside of a couple elements of the trick, it just wasn't that interesting outside of this red woman. And I was worried that it wasn't going to go anywhere that interesting. But then the lights go out and it instantly becomes 10X better and is pretty great for the entire second half. It's unfortunately way too rare that we get any real dangerous situation or atmosphere (which is why since the new art style every case should just take place at night). Honestly it feels like every case nowadays Gosho tries to do exactly one thing that makes it go against your cynical expectations of a typical case in this series, which I very much appreciate. And I did like the trick to this, as silly as it was. Weights and floating tomatoes, isn't that the first way you'd try to murder someone?!
Also, I'm way more interested in Sera's family than Bourbon's continued lack of action. I really don't have a clue where this is going and I like that. Maybe I've forgotten something but I'm also interested in why Sera is so interested in Conan. It's clearly meant to be suspicious, so I don't think I'm forgetting anything.
Number of songs from 2007 soundtrack: 12

how cool was the enterance of yamato deus ex machina saving the culprit from getting attacked. That was my favourite scene especially with the ost behind

Spoiler:
This was one of my favourita cases in a long time. We got Nagano cops that we haven't seen in a long time. We got Sera spill something new about her family(it's debatable how truthful it is). We got an interesting case.(This one reminds me of the ski lodge murder in which Ran acted as Shinichi's mouthpiece.) And we got Conan interracting with Sera in very similar manner than he does with Heiji.
BUT, we got Mystery child. In a way I have nothing against them... But it feels like they're a bit too much. If Sera(and Amuro) had been introduced way earlier and there had been less filler-y cases, this kid would be acceptable with the second brother(I'm okay with him as long as he's Shuukichi) but now... *sigh*

Dude, spoilers. Most of that isn't in the anime yet!

Sorry. I tend to forget that anime is so far behind as I don't follow it that closely... but my comment is spoilered now. Okay there?

It's just occurred to me, do they ever mention if Conan and Sera discuss anything when they gallop off to the forest for that time? Is it going to end up being a reveal way down the line where they're just like "oh yeah, Sera explained a whole lot of plot relevant stuff to Conan in that off-screen scene"? Eh, maybe I'm just slightly hopeful :V.
(...I only really skimmed through these few cases in the manga tbh so I'd forgotten most of it but watching this case and like the two previous manga-based ones just has me wondering if Conan ever had any semblance of subtlety. But hey, I liked the cat case before this :3.)
It amuses me how they try to compensate the lack of red blood with just flashes of a *really* red forest though. "Yeah, everything was soaked in the red of blood!" *flashes to some oil and then some trees*.

No, they just said they didn't find any clues in the forest. It wasn't mentioned in the case again.
I doubt Sera revealed anything to Conan. His curiousisty only increases after this case and doesn't lower like you'd expect if she really revealed something important to her.
Spoiler:
Also, in the Poolside Case, Sera wanted to convey her plans to Conan, but can't because Ran and Sonoko tagged along; now if she revealed big plot details to Conan, he would've made sure to come alone, because he would've known of the importance of their meeting, but he didn't.

Spoiler:
In a way I thought that Conan purposely brought Sonoko and Ran with him.
He clearly knew that if Sera invites HIM (and not Ran & Sonoko who are the same age as she is, because often one invites adults and encourages them to take the kids along with them, and not vice versa (inviting kids and encourages them to take the parents along with them)), she must have a reason for doing so.
Plus, Conan clearly knows that the MC and Sera are somehow connected, he once even bugged Sera's room (and pretty quickly found out that the bug was destroyed, so she isn't an ordinary high school girl) to find who the MC really is, therefore he's fully aware that Sera also some plays some important role in the CIA/BO/FBI game.
Therefore knowing that Sera plays her own game, and has her own agency why did Conan brought Sonoko and Ran to the pool? I think the only explanation is that he was afraid of his own safety and life. Otherwise there's no reason for Conan NOT TO visit Sera considering that she keeps hinting that she knows about Conan more than she should know. But then again, Sera already had enough possibilities to hurt Conan, and she didn't.. so Conan shouldn't be afraid of his life. Perhaps Conan thinks that Sera doesn't have any valuable info to share... but why then he's so obsessed with her and even resorted to bug her...
I feel there's a major inconsistency in Conan's behaviour.

Huh, I didn't get this feeling at all. He behaved pretty normally I thought and seemed genuinely sorry that Sonoko and Ran tagged along.
I wouldn't read too much into that, I think Gosho just wanted to tease us.

I don't mind an off-hand comment regarding the manga (though I DID have to edit in a spoiler tag there), but please don't start an actual discussion about a case that wasn't animated yet.
If you have thoughts to share on a manga case that wasn't yet in the anime, you can do so in the case's discussion thread in the Story Board.

Pretty good episodes and kinda scary, but I was disappointed by 2 things:
- the identity of the red woman ;
- the Kansuke deus ex machina entrance. Not the "epicest"
