In a generic context it works, it just doesn't work when referring to Kogoro specifically.

To be fair, it doesn't affect me, but it would certainly confuse new-comers to the series.

All very nice and that, but as usual the Americans think they are the only people on the planet.....
Crunchyroll hosting Conan is a bit meaningless for me....
Get the usual lame old complicated licensing junk excuses, but they like Funimation will be lining their pockets handsomely..
Nice to get easy cash jumping on the bandwagon late and on the backs of the now slapped down fan-subbers who kept Conan alive and out there for us ALL to enjoy.
I'll be waiting around hoping some of the lovely fan-subbers out there are able to keep up and stick a finger up to the DMCA toads.
If you haven't seen it, catch movie 18... Conan rocks
Take care all,
Mick C.

A fansubber does not compete with a legitimate release.ViperMWC wrote:I'll be waiting around hoping some of the lovely fan-subbers out there are able to keep up and stick a finger up to the DMCA toads.

I personally know a lot of people from outside the U.S. and Canada that are watching the Crunchyroll episodes on the Crunchyroll website without any problem. We knew as soon as it was announced that said folks would have access to it. In fact, you're not even going to experience lag if you were to... say... google "better internet" and check out one of the early links on the Google Play store. That should put you on the right path, no matter your browser.ViperMWC wrote:All very nice and that, but as usual the Americans think they are the only people on the planet.....

Kinda hoped that due to the break from last week, we'd get 759 today and decrease the waiting time from 10 days to 3 days, but I guess CR really does need 10 days for DC.

Yeah, Maybe after a while they'll get used to subbing it and catch up

I think it's more likely a matter of contract, and less a matter of 'getting used to it'. The agreement they have with TMS probably says they're only allowed to release it 10 days after it airs in Japan.

It's definitely the contract they have with TMS. For Magi season 1 they were a few days behind the Japanese broadcast so that's another example. It's really a matter of reaching an agreement where both sides are satisfied.

CR's translation sparked an interesting discussion on IRC. Spoilers to whoever didn't watch the latest CR released episode or didn't read the manga case.
Obviously it's a problematic translation considering what's said in the next manga case, but apparently the original line is obscure and genderless, so that casts some doubt on what we thought before.
Here's the log from the IRC (warning again, spoilers. Also, sorry if it looks messy)

Well, considering the translator didn't even bother to check to see what the correct reading of Uehara's first name was, I wouldn't read into their translation choices all too much.Kor wrote:CR's translation sparked an interesting discussion on IRC. Though, the overall point still stands. That line is so ambiguous you probably couldn't even cut it with a knife (unless you were Gosho himself, of course).

Guys, this is only available for Americans, as no-one outside of America can have access to it!
Second, who have you asked? People in Canada? Give examples of people outside of American who can access it.
First of all, I get a message which explicitly says "Sorry, due to licensing limitations, videos are unavailable in your region." Meaning it has NOTHING to do with the internet speed!Jd- wrote:I personally know a lot of people from outside the U.S. and Canada that are watching the Crunchyroll episodes on the Crunchyroll website without any problem. But seriously, I'm just going to highlight the part of Jd-'s post that you seem to have ignored:

Where do you come from then? I'm from the UK and I don't have **** internet, if that's what you're implying. :/Kor wrote:I'm a person outside of America who can access it. Nice to meet!Grip55 wrote:Guys, this is only available for Americans, as no-one outside of America can have access to it!

Try following that suggestion literally and I think you'll be pleased with what you find.
