I don't remember what what case it was but I saw my first episode on adult swim. Then one day through the magic of the internet found I could download episodes. I downloaded as many as I could since then I even downloaded an 75 gig torrent to complete my collection.

Brother-in-law said I should keep the channel on Adult Swim when Detective Conan started.  I immediately loved the show.

Moved to Europe and started longing for it, but the torrents I could find were for the Japanese versions with subtitles.  I very VERY quickly learned to hate Jimmy Kudo and LOVE Shinichi Kudo. 

Can't ever EVER enjoy an english version again.  Japanese spoken with subs is THE ONLY way to enjoy Meitantei Conan!

i want to say i was stuck in my friend's apt, with nothing to do.  and then i started screaming for cartoons, and case closed popped in the vcr, since i didn't like anything else.  (taped from tv on adult swim.)  i had to start at episode 2 though.  since she didn't tape episode 1 (was busy watching / getting hooked herself).  since i was stuck in that apt, i watched all the episodes she had taped, and i was hooked by the time i got home.  and started recording them off adult swim until i discovered knkf and bittorrent.  or did i discover anime-conan first.  hmm....

My wife is japanese, and has been a huge fan since it started in japan. About 2 years ago she was borrowing manga comics from the library, including Conan, but the only one in English was Kindaichi (which is a rival of Conan in Japan- he's a teen detective, but only the manga's really popular, the anime was short-lived) and that got me hooked on mysteries.

Then my wife begged me to download some Conan episodes for her, which I did, subbed.

The first episode I watched was the Holmes Freak Case, pt 1 and 2... after that, i was totally hooked on Conan, and also a big fan of Hattori Heiji. Now it is both our dream to download all the Conan episodes- we've got about 250 of them so far!

First time i saw Conan Anime was 13 march 2008 =)
I downloaded it from P2P - using eMule.
And keep doing it. It's damn hard to do it tho.
I have only 3 episodes right now and 3 more waiting for share. And torrent too.

I've been into Holmes and Poirot (and shows like CSI) since 5th grade. I was shocked to see a show like Conan on Adult Swim when it started airing (yeah i remember when the twin brother case first aired too).

Then when they stopped airing it I went to the internet looking and found anime-conan. Then XCHKS which was still decent because hey, its still Detective Conan. Then KnKF, Neg and so on, which all did a quality job.

Really I didn't think Conan had such a major fanbase in North America and Europe, but I'm thankful it does now

Been a while, but I think it was in '98 I found some vivo format episodes (raw) of Conan (in 200x150) including ep1 and some other episodes I now forget what they were.  Then in 2000 Fumei Anime VHS fansubbed some episodes (I think) and the first movie.  First movie really made me relook at the series and become a big fan.  I imported some manga following that.  The Lobato's fansubs of the first few seasons started coming out in 2001/2002.  Later in 2002, I started working with the original DCTP and worked on a few initial episodes (like 4 and 5 I think) and then movie 6 and 304.  There followed Fumination's license announcement (originally just the first 100, then "all of it"), so the first DCTP kinda broke up.  When I finally decided to get back into fansubbing Conan, luckily there were some good people working on it, and we formed the new DCTP.

Like many others, I first watched Conan during its run on Adult Swim back in 2004; I believe my first ep was ep 34, the "Mountain Villa Bandaged Man Murder Case".

After that I was hooked, and about a year later I discovered Anime-Conan, so I downloaded and watched all that I could.  I later came upon KnKF and NEG, and the rest is history

I also found Conan on adult swim. I was really into holmes and other mysteries, having read them nonstop since  I was a kid, and I also liked anime a lot at the time. I use to keep it on while I played Warcraft III and Diablo online with my friends. I caught the first episode and I never missed one till it went off.

As Againts to all of you we in India lack this Adult Swim but now we get these on special request on "Hungama TV" but Hindi Dub "I hate Dub-They sound Awful"

So I found about this from my friend who is also a anime freak but doesn't like Conan much"POOR thing on Earth" he provided me first three movies which i liked the Most then i googled about conan and came across almost 130 episodes on joox.net and Stage6.com

The first case i saw of Detective Conan was the one where ayumi is kidnapped.... i think it was 13 years ago when i was 8 years old, i forgot about the serie until i knew it still on air. I came here around 18 months to get the episodes subbed... so far i got them all of the subbed and some unsubbed (spain dub)

I was interested in Adult Swim for about a year as this was when Adult Swim had more than 1 good show that wasn't reruns of shows from Fox. This was especially true when I realized how awesome Yu Yu Hakusho was on Toonami (which if I remember correctly originally was on Adult Swim). However, I almost never was able to stay up long enough to watch anything on it (hilarious now as I almost never go to sleep before 1:30 anymore). When I did watch it I saw some AWESOME anime. One night one of these anime was one called "Case Closed."The episode was the 2nd part of the Moonlight Sonata case. Despite not looking nearly as cool as most other anime on CN, every single part of the episode was extremely fun and interesting. I felt bad for whatever horrible name the dub gave Seiji and the end was great. However, by the time I watched Adult Swim again, it was gone.
A couple years later (and after 9 months of not having a working computer), I was looking for some anime to watch on youtube and one of the first ones I thought of was Case Closed (which I knew was "Detective Conan" because certain videos said just that). Couldn't find a single episode and hell, I don't think I even found ANYTHING that was from the show, dub or otherwise. And in the summer of 2008, I was once again looking for a new anime to watch. A friend on a certain forum was a Conan fan and referenced the series a lot so I looked for that. Tried a youtube channel until that was closed and then favorited a lot of sites to avoid not seeting the episodes. I watched every subbed episodes (except 20 episodes before 383...for some reason). Went to this site sortly before or after I got to the most recently subbed ep. (510) and the rest is history.

I first saw the show on AS (case closed) tho I don't remember what eps. The only thing I rmember was it had something to do with snow.

Sometime after that (a few months I believe) I was looking for a place to download eps and I came across AConan subbing group and starting downloading there encodes. A few months after they stopped subbing I found DCTP's site and been here since.

When [adult swim] first began its life on Cartoon Network, it was AWESOME. You'd get great comedy shows (This was even before Family Guy,) like Mission Hill (I wasn't the only one who liked that show, right?) and anime. Before [as], I was barely exposed to anime, other than the usual suspects. I wouldn't call myself huge anime fan. However, [as] is what got me interested in anime, with shows like Cowboy Bebop, Gundam shows, and things of that calibre. However, after about a year, [as] got REALLY stale and boring, and I stopped watching. One day on a whim, I felt like staying up late to catch an episode of Cowboy Bebop, and had caught the tail end of something, I think Inuyasha? Anyway, right after that show I saw this really cool bumper, with silhouettes of various Conan characters, while some jazzy crime music played, and then there goes the intro of "Case Closed". My first episode was episode 18, "The June Bride Murder Case," which I would at that point come to know as "Wedding Day Blues."

At first I was like "Huh?" at the fact that Conan had the mind of a teenager, but I understood the premise right away for some reason. During the episode, I kept saying "Hey, this show isn't that bad..." and at the end of the episode I really enjoyed what I saw. After that, I began taping various episodes so that I could watch them at a better time (I STILL remember when I saw the preview for the second part of the Diplomat Murder Case, and going batshit when I saw Kudo go "No... Harley... is wrong,") and got bummed out when the VCR wouldn't work when it was supposed to record the second part of the Moonlight Sonata case (By now the show was cycling through older episodes.) I stopped watching, but never forgot about the interesting show.

A few months later, Funimation released DVD's with three episodes on them, one had the first three episodes, and the other had three episodes never before aired on Cartoon Network. One of those episodes was the Mist Goblin Case, which is the case that got me completely hooked onto the show. I bought all of the DVD releases, and the last episode Funimation released at the time was the Wandering Artist Case. For pretty much 3-4 years, that was what I got up to in the show. I would often see that SO many episodes of the show were airing in Japan, and wondered what the hold-up was. And then finally, seasons four and five came out, and I watched those happily.

I started watching subbed stuff at first because on the season five set, Funimation completely cut the ending scene to episode 118 for some reason (Kazuha's first appearance.) Then I realized that the reality was that Funimation was no longer going to sub the show, so I began watching the subbed episodes. My first fansubbed episode? "The Mysterious Sniper Murder Case." WOW. That was seven months ago. And I spent the entire summer watching every episode, movie, and OVA subbed, and now I'm hooked, and there won't be changing.

tl;dr version - I started watching via [adult swim]. After getting tired of Funimation dicking around with the show, I began watching it subbed.
